Hello, I feel like I am lost in knowing how to build my island. I do not know where to start. I have ideas but it never works. I have been playing for a long time and my island is the same or almost as it was. It feels like whatever I do its never good and it will never be enough. I see images and try to reproduce them but it does not work. Its overwhelming.
How to do it? I see some island everything connect together, nothing seem empty its decorated and wow!! I just don't know where to start. I would really appreciate tips, walktrough, step to step videos etc...
well, there's nothing wrong with always trying new ways to build your island. the game allows you to change the landscaping and the locations of buildings whenever you like, so if you don't like how you did something, you can always change it later.
the process is different for everyone so it's hard to give a definitive answer of where to start. if it helps, here was my basic process:
arrange the buildings in a way in which they are aligned - the houses are split into groups around the island (2 groups of 4 and 1 group of 2). these groups are arranged in straight squares (or just a straight line in the case of the group of 2).
i give my villagers their own "yards", fenced-off space around/in front of their houses each with their own outdoor furniture. so next i'd designate the size and shape of each yard and fence the area (they're all about the same size as each other, maybe minus one line of space)
lay down paths wherever i want to walk. this isn't in EVERY part of town, i leave some space for further landscaping and for things like orchards and flower fields. the paths are usually 3 tiles wide, but can be 2 or 4 depending on how it fits in the space. some people use elaborate custom paths but i'm content with the default brick path pattern.
designate where i want to put fruit trees (each type of fruit gets its own orchard) and flower fields. i don't have to fill them yet, just decide on the space and what i want to fill it with.
remaining empty space gets landscaped and decorated arbitrarily. i make sure nearly every place is walkable without ladders or vaulting poles - every cliff has a staircase or stand-up ladder (or a vine, the function is identical) and every river has either a bridge or a single tile of land in the center to hop across. my museum is also on its own cliff, which can be reached with stand-up ladders but also via hopping across the tiny cliffs in between the museum and the closest cliff. a couple spaces are inaccessible without extra tools or further landscaping, but these are filled with flowers and/or water that i would not need to access.
not everything needs to be decorated at once. i still have a big empty space i haven't decided how to decorate (i had decorated it before but i decided i didn't like it and cleared the space). if you want to get a better idea of what i mean you can look in my dream town - the dream address is DA-9380-2051-3259.
of course, this is only my own process that has worked for me. a different process might work better for you. you can start with the houses and then figure out what you most want to do next. or you can do something entirely different. i hope this helps at least a little bit.
