My main concerns were the wallpaper/flooring combo, then what kind of rug would match that, and now, I'm not sure if I have to swap the black antique furniture with the brown ones. It's been bothering me for a while now! And don't get me starting on figuring out what mat to put at the front door.

What do you guys think?

Can you tell me what your thought process is? Like what's the story or general feeling you're going for.

The wallpaper, floor and rug feels detached to me.

Have you tried going to Harv to play around with different furniture so you don't order a bunch of items and it turns out you don't like them?

The old wallpaper with antique furniture and rug doesn't compliment each other in my opinion. And I think the room is very yellow and you need a splash of color for contrast (maybe a different color rug)

Actually I like the wallpaper, floor, and rug but I think the furniture does then seem too dark to me. If it were more in the sepia tones (still darker than the walls and floor but lighter than what you have) I think the look would be a lot more cohesive!

i like the coloring of the wall matching the rug. I would probably give it a pop of color in furniture or floor to either blue to match the uniform or green to match the train set.

Thanks for all the help, guys! Argh, I am so indecisive about all this! How is decorating the house just as stressful as the rest of the island??

I just want a living room feel, but I love the the antique furniture set so I am trying to use those where I can. Lmao, I feel that as far as detachment goes.

So what you're saying is I would benefit from swapping the black antique furniture with the brown furniture? Or is there another set you're thinking of?

Either way, really! I just think that brown would be more harmonious/flow better with the colors you have. And I mean you did say you were really into the antique furniture set so why not try that first? :D

UPDATE! I completely redid some aspects of my room from scratch. While I'm still worried about how it looks, to me it's better than my original setup. I changed the wallpaper, flooring, rug, and etc, but not the black furniture (yet).

What do you think? Any more tips would be appreciated.

I think it looks beautiful as is. The wall paper has changed the entire look of the room. What you can play around with, though, is to change the color of the rugs. I thnk maybe a light yellow/green/white rug might work too.
