Been reading up on New Horizon's Hybrid system, and geez this stuff's complicated. They've got a genetics system and everything programmed into them.

Everyone getting their blue roses and junk? Y'all got super lucky with the genetics your flowers had when you found them on your nook ticket islands' hybrid islands haha.

I love that it seems to be a similar system to New Leaf! I love breeding flowers and the more complicated the flower, the better it feels when you finally get one.

I got a ton from an NMT island too, plus my blue pansies are FINALLY coming in!

It's similar but more expanded on. New Horizons is definitely more of a process compared to New Leaf. But the same thing from New Leaf should in theory work, with some tweaking.

It’s blue roses in particular, not blue flowers in general. Blue flowers in general are more uncommon than rare. Purple flowers (aside from roses and mums) on the other hand, are very rare provided you didn’t take the parents from a mystery island.

It's really just blue roses that are difficult to make actually! For blue hyacinths, windflowers, and pansies you need only combine specific types of basic flowers and wait for the hybrid to pop up. For blue roses however, you have to breed a red & yellow rose to make an orange, then two whites to make a purple, and then breed those together to make a special "hybrid" red rose which has no visual difference from a regular red rose (so if you move them you might forget they were your special ones lol). You need two of those and only then, when you breed them together, does a blue rose have a chance of appearing. So yeah, blue roses are super complicated to make. Green mums have a bit of a similar process but with less steps, you just need to make 2 purples and breed them together.

That is going to be a headache. Hopefully, I can find them on a hybrid island, but I think hybrid islands are only for native flowers or ones that you can buy (please correct me if I'm wrong)

hybrid island flowers are great because of one reason and that is that their genes are optimized to give the highest chance at producing the rarest color hybrid for that flower type.

Example is you can simply breed 2 blue pansies together you took from a hybrid island and get purple at a 25% rate compared to the huge roundabout breeding route you would have to take if using store bought seeds.

I don't think hybrid island contain blue rose. They contain pink and orange rose.

From what I know its the same method as New Leaf still, two hybrid reds = blue
