Hybrid questions

I know what colors breed each hybrid. I use fertilizer, but I have still not gotten any rare hybrids. What is the best way to set them up for maximum hybridization?

I've had the best luck with this pattern (x=flowers, b=blank spot)

There's no guarantee that you'll get a hybrid, since flowers can also generate "normal" flowers, but I get at least 1-2 hybrids every day. Also, are you watering them? That seems to be key.

Interesting, I use a checkerboard pattern which seems to work quite well.
