hybrid breeding

so i got 25 free black roses from a giveaway and i decided to breed them so i can get more black roses.

my black roses are producing white roses. is this usual? i'm new to breeding but i thought two black roses made another black rose.

you can get more than just black (p much anything non-hybrid on the breeding chain is possible iirc, and maybe even some hybrids too... though don't quote me on the last bit), so they may of gotten some of the black roses through breeding red roses that had themselves been bred using white roses. possibly hybrid reds in an attempt to produce blue roses

at least that's my main guess
