how’s your residential area set up?

i just got nh like over a week ago so i’m a littleeee late to the party and i unlocked terraforming and everything and i’m having so much trouble figuring out what i wanna do, esp w my villagers houses! initially i set all of them up a little scattered, but the ones that were together were way too close so i couldn’t really decorate the front yards but i really want to; i think decorations that relate to the villager would be so cute. how are yours set up? all together or scattered? did u decorate the fronts? pictures or explanations would be vry useful :^) also smthn that would be so helpful is how far u spaced them

mine r all just kinda chillin on the beach atm. it's probably going to take me a long time before i set up proper neighborhoods, but for now we're all beach bums

Most of my villagers are placed on the back of my island on the second or third level. I personally don't like having them super close together. I decorated their front yard to give them some more personality.

I have two neighborhoods, essentially. One is for my snootier/more formal villagers. It's fancier and more structured; gardens surrounded by hedges, a paved courtyard with tables and chess sets. The other is more casual, for my chill/casual residents. More grass, a picnic area with a barbeque and smoker, flowers are pastels, closer to the beach, a prominent hammock.

Most of my villagers don't have yards. Really nice yards look great but I want the spaces on my island to feel more communal and shared. A couple of the houses do have yards but for most of my villagers, I've limited it to a bit of decoration to showcase the personality of the animal living inside.

I think more about making sure that different areas on my island have different vibes, that they feel distinct and aren't repetitive, and put my villagers in the area they'd enjoy most.

mine are all over the place lol. in some areas i have two, and in one area i have three. but for the ones with two, they are spaced out enough to decorate! you can come over to my island and ill take you over to see if you want! ☺

I spread them out and at the same time put their houses on the side of my "areas" so it looks like they have their own areas and their houses not getting in the way. It saved me enough space to put varying areas to decorate plus it's good to see them walking around all over the place
