How will you design your town?

It was recently confirmed that we will be able to choose where villagers decide to live/place their house. In addition, it seems that we will be able to build the regular buildings that were are used to in the game. Its likely possible that we will be able to decide where Town Hall is placed as well as Re-tail, etc which was not possible in NL.

If all of this is true, how would you design your town? Would you mix your home and your villagers homes all throughout or would you separate part of the island for you and your villagers homes almost like a smaller community?

I think it could be a cute design to make part of the island for the houses, another part for shops and other buildings, and perhaps create a town plaza with outdoor furniture.

I want to have two small villager communities in two different sections of the map, with facility buildings in one area together. I'd like for one community to be more natural/forest based while the other is more "town like" and developed. I would want my own character to live in a more foresty area though. I can already imagine parking my bicycle outside and a dirt path leading to the more developed area :> I also wouldn't mind having villager houses spread out throughout the town too. With a bigger map, I like having villagers or buildings scattered around so it gives me an excuse to visit those areas. In one of my ACNL towns, my villagers are all grouped together so sometimes I rarely even visit a whole section of the town lol.

I want my house to be a hideaway, not near anything major.

I have no idea about anything else until we know more about PWP's/outdoor placements.

In my New Leaf town, I have 4 different neighbourhoods! The shanty strip by the train station (budget housing), the quiet area with camping and picnics, the event neighbourhood where you are always close to the happenings (right above the plaza), and the beach front, where the houses overlooks the beach. So as you can see, I kinda of like having multiple neighbourhoods in my town :) I like to spread them out because I don't want my animals gathered all in one place, and then there will be a part of my town that no one ever visits, since they seem to wander around their area, and not venture out too far into town (at least in NL). I don't really know how the shops will work, but I would probably want them all to be in one area, so it feels like the shopping district in a small town. But then again, this might change depending on what shops there are! If there is still a museum, I think I will put that in a special place on it's own, away from the "shopping district" (maybe at the back of the map, on the second level of the town - if that is in fact part of the town).

I'm literally getting SO excited just thinking about this XD

Yes this makes me excited as well!
I'll probably put my own house in a hidaway OR on the beach (if you can upgrade your beach tent to a house). And, depending on how many villagers we get, I would like to make 2 districs for them. The island over-all needs to have a natural feel with lot's of different areas to play and relax in. God we can do s many things with putting furniture outside it's going to be a blast!

I'm really excited about the new paths feature so I'm thinking I’ll have one section where it'll be nothing but villagers and paths and some decor/amenities. Then another section, maybe on the second level, for fruit trees and...I don't know what else I want lol. The map looks so much bigger now so I'm excited to see what I can fit in where.

I like the idea of keeping my Mayor's house separate, but I also wouldn't mind acting like I'm the queen of the island while all my loyal animal subjects surround me, lol. Honestly, I won't have a plan until I actually play it for a few days, and even then, I'll probably mostly be winging it. I'm not so good at planning exactly where and how things will go/be. Mostly I just kind of... plant the seeds of a town and see how it blossoms on its own. I really envy people who can do that sort of planning, but sometimes, it's nice to just let it do what it does.

I would want to say this is one game it's best to not go into blind so we can plan our town better, but in this case, we are going into the game blind. ^^;

Either case, considering the kind of shops we may be getting, I may plan on having a shopping strip near the beach, akin to Beach City from Steven Universe. The suburbs, considering the cliffside is open at some point, may be where I house my residents. As for everything else... I dunno. Parks? A town square? A nature pathway? :)

I know I want their houses to be scattered around the island. Maybe one or two alone and then the rest in groups of 2-4 depending on how many residents we're allowed to have (I'm really hoping for 15.)

I just thought about creating a campgrounds area. I hope visitor camping tents are a thing. Id love to create a campground with campfires, wood benches, etc.

I'll have my home away from everyone else because "hippity hoppity stay the **** off my property". Otherwise, we'll see what happens depending on what all we can do. If it's "put any building wherever", I'll group everything into districts.

The only actual buildings that I would be okay with being in the actual town itself is Retail, Town Hall, Police Station, campground, and maybe the Cafe, but preferably not. The rest should go in a shopping district area that hopefully we could maybe design ourselves as well like in Happy Home Designer.

As I like to do with all my towns I?ll probably make it based around Redwall.

I am going to try my hardest to make a horror themed island/town

I want to have 2 or 3 different areas throughout the island for villager homes. I want mine to be away from everything, but I wouldn’t mind the cafe being near my house.
I’m excited about putting furniture outside because now I can actually have a yard that looks good. I always try in previous games, but there was only so much you could do.

No idea yet. Once I have my map put in front of me I?ll go from there. In terms of a theme though...could be a mixed bag of things allocated to different areas of the village/island.

As many have said...having the ability to put down paths officially now makes things so much easier.

No idea, I may just keep it normal (not doing much at all for the first few weeks) until I think of doing something (I spent a lot of my summers at a lake cabin, so I may be going for more of that theme)

I'll organize the homes into like 3-4 seperate neighborhoods. I'm hoping the villager count is like 10-12.

I'm gonna line whatever shops they have along the cliff wall and that will be my "main street" but I'm really hoping that there wont be that many shops and that there will be a shopping district that we take that plane too.

I want to make themed areas in the island.
- a fairy forest with pastel color theme and illumination projects like the tree and the arch from new leaf (if they're available)
- a bamboo zen forest with hot springs and other stuff
- a spooky dark rundown area. Lots of weeds and hopefully spooky decorations.

I'm curious to see what kind of house and exteriors we get this time around.

That would help with setting a theme.

My New Leaf town has kind of an ornate/natural theme to it where I've tried to use "old fashioned" PWP's to really bring it to life. I think I'll be sticking to that theme but I'd rather wait to see what is available for us to use.
