Alright, I recently bought an extra used copy of acnl. What I didn't know was the earlier person had foolishly changed the time in-game and left it at 4AM. At first I thought I changed the system clock incorrectly and checked, but was actually the game time itself. At first it wasn't a bother but at the moment I have set up the new town and want to reset for desirable villagers, but now I've learned that changing time in game only works when you load your character.

Say you want to set the date to 6-11, and inform Isabelle through the 'set the time' option. Once she confirms it, you shut off the game, load, and pick New Save File. But wouldn't you guess, it's still 6/10. That won't do at all, considering that to plot reset you can't start the mayor or existing characters at all.

Is there any way to get pass this and change the in game time without loading up the mayor? Or better, to 'reset' it so it goes back to changing with the system time? I already forgot to start yesterday and now I'm stuck with Sheldon, and I'd really wouldn't like to pull in another 'Sheldon' if you know what I mean. Thanks!

Kinda confused? If it helps though, a new day starts at 6 am and usually people put the time at 5:58 , save on the mayor and then after waiting a few minutes they load on an new alt character for camp/plot resets!

Uh... you could change your 3DS clock so that the ingame time will resolve as your preferred date (i.e. if you were one day ahead, set the 3DS clock one day behind). Do your resetting until you get the desired outcome, then save and quit, fix the 3DS clock, go to your mayor and change the ingame time.I've never changed the 3DS clock so I don't know what that'll do to stuff like your records though.

Ugh, wow, I can't believe I never considered that! Thank you both! >v>

The issue here is, I need to be able to change the system clock and for the game to detect the difference, like if I changed the day, the game would read it and change the day to match it perfectly, not just to have them share times.

Apparently when you change the in game time it refuses to try and sync with the system's anymore.

Why won't you just reset the game entirely and start a new game? In any case, you can just inform Isabelle of the correct time and date and if you're trying to reset, set it a bit before 6 AM.

You can also use your 3DS clock to force the game to adjust to a new date. Just set it to the date and time you want and then start up the game. After the first time you save you can set your 3DS clock back. However, keep in mind that this works mainly if you're going to use a new character or if there's a significant difference in time between the two dates (for example, I've changed my 3DS clock today since it was a few minutes behind, and it didn't affect the in-game time). If there's a significant difference between the two dates, I also recommend that you start the game as a new character first to check if anyone's moved before loading as the mayor or as an existing character.

I don't know if this helps, since your question is a bit confusing.

I would reset, but I already picked a nice spot for my house and found that Ankha and Poppy decided to live there too! Of course, I could always find someone to hold them and pick them up later, and I may just consider it since Sheldon and Phil ruined the the fun of my house placement by dropping their houses right in front of mine...Of course I could always kick them out later.

Hmm, the dates are only different by a few days but I'll try this out, thanks.

And sorry for the confusion, I'm having trouble finding a way to really explain.

Well uh, I've now discovered the date will change to match the system's, but the time kind does its own thing...I suppose that as long as I can change the date now, I'll worry about the time later. Thanks again to everyone who helped out!

You could just wait until you finish resetting for your character, and then change the date by using your mayor?
