How to make a villager's house original again?

I was just wondering: what if I wanted to make a villager's house original again?
To do so, I'd have to send that villager the exact same pieces of furniture he had when he moved in. But, would that be enough for them to be replaced exactly where they were at first?
Just curious about that.

I think it's rather difficult to do, because even if you send them the furniture they originally had they might not place it in the same position, or they might not even display it. I think it takes a bit of luck and patience, but it might take a lot of furniture and be a bit frustrating!

I don't think it could ever get back to original because even if you sent all the furniture and they put it in their house then they may not put it in the original place, and besides it is very hard for them to keep all the furniture and I really don't think it is worth it.

There is a thing to do with Isabelle where you can do problematic citizens. I know it resets the catchphrase and clothes and letters and stuff, but I'm not sure about the house. Check it out!

Unfortunately you can't change the house with this option, certainly would be nice if you could.

Thanks everyone for your answers, I don't care about villagers being original but I was just curious about this. Seems pretty hard and long to do...

I find it a bit hit and miss... I tried to restore Zell's two stool-chair things he had, so I sent 1: excellent, it was where it should be. So I sent the second one and it went and replaced the first stool i'd sent him, leaving the other random item which had first replaced his second stool. Grr.

I haven't had much luck with this. As others have said it's a trial and error process. Instead of trying to have the house original I just prefer to decorate with furniture that I like. The easiest way is to talk to the villagers often and try to fulfill their requests when they ask and send a letter w/ the piece of furniture. This doesn't provide any guarantee that a furniture will be placed in their house but they are more inclined to display the furniture as oppose to trying to trade it away. Well at least this has been the case for me.

Must be frustrating when they don't display your gifts in their houses xD
I personnaly don't bother. But I do want to trade Julian for another Smug, and people are so picky about ther originality...

Here's what I do.

1. Buy items from catalog or stores that were originally in their houses
2. Remove all other non relevant items from pockets and place onto ground or in storage for now (try to have close to 0 bells so they can't harass you to buy anything from them)
3. Go to the villager's house (you can save and quit till the villager is in their house)
4. Save game in their house
5. Constantly talk to them till they mention your furniture and let them have it either by trading, selling or giving away
6. Exit their house and re-enter to see if they decided to display the furniture (they usually do, and they usually place it in the right spot)
7. If you are satisfied with the result, repeat steps 4 - 6.

Sometimes they'll only want one of your furniture at a time, so you'll have to save and quit. It's still annoying to do but it's better than doing it by mail in my opinion.
