Recently , I read a few things about this and they weren't at all very helpful. If you have a villager you don't like, use this!

First off, I found out about this when trying to get villagers to ping me for new projects , also works for projects btw.

1. You have to have a wet suit and a timer.

2. Put your timer on for 5 min, go in the water ( preferably the deep end near the nets ), and just wait :)
Tip + - fill your pockets with flowers so they don't ask for stuff and don't ask for you to buy anything...

3. Come out of the water after your timer is up, walk in front of everyone and if they ping you,
It should be about moving , or a project.

The pinging only works 5 times a day for all of the villagers in the game though! So if they ping you 5 times in a day and didn't work, tt to the next day!

If it's the person you didn't want to have them move, TRY AGAIN!

Goodluck :D

This is very helpful to know! Thank you for sharing! Will be screenshotting this thread haha ^-^

Very good advice! I'm trying this to get a PWP request. They can still ping you for stuff though. I had Spork just ping me asking if he can call me by a nickname.

Is it a certain villager can only ping you 5 times per day or is it there are only 5 pings per day collectively between all villagers? If someone pings me should I talk to them and then go back in the water or should I see every other villager to see if they ping me too?

I use this method for requesting public work projects, that works better.

I do this too for requesting PWP's. Definitely works well

It does work with trying to get them to move out though, it makes the chance of them asking to trade or sell something very unlikely.

this works great for PWP requests but i didn't know that villagers would ask to move..I should try this out for moving

I've never heard of this method being used to 'force' a certain villager to move. Can other people validate the certainty of this? Who else has tried this and can confirm that it works? If it does work, this would be a super wonderful breakthrough and a solution to this issue that has plagued many animal crossing players for a long time now

All villagers. I'm not sure why..

Yes, I used to try to get villagers to ping me for projects, but sadly my favorite villagers would run up to me and ask to move :( but of course it works with other villagers as well :)

I tried this twice and it kinda worked but the villager who I wanted to move didn't ping me. He hasn't pinged me all day. Honestly I now have hatred towards this villager (Bob) cause I need him out so I can get Carmen my last dreamie

Basically if you're out of your animals' sight for awhile, they'll "forget" about you. This allows them to "ping" you again. It works well for PWPs but also for movers because sometimes the mover won't "ping" you right away. But you can also reload your game or sit idle for 5 minutes on the beach and get the same effect.

edit: Also, this won't make a mover appear or anything. A mover is decided on that day. Other ways to find a mover include talking to all your animals twice (One animal is programmed to tell you if another animal is moving. If you hear the normal gossip dialogue, nobody's moving. I.E Peppies will say "Come on "Name" I'm dying for the latest gossip, etc.). So this trick will only work for finding a mover who failed to ping you.

I find it faster to talk to all my animals twice and get the rumor dialogue, and see if anyone pings me along the way. Usually my animals tell me the rumor by conversation 3 xD

I guess my suspicions about this are: does this method actually allow you to decide which villager will leave? Or is this just a way to get whoever was set to leave anyways to ping you faster?

Just to ping you faster. Edited with additional information above.

No. But if your dreamie wanted to move, you can stop them from doing so. So basically you do get to choose , but not the person who pings you the first few times.

aaah I understand this now, alright. thanks for clearing that up for me, guys!
