Hello!
Okay... So, I love Animal Crossing. But I've never been really into it as I am now. (My obsession has just blossomed.)
So I have all these questions - as you can see on these forums.

So, I was wondering...
How do you get a villager to STAY in your town?
I see how everyone has dreamies but when they finally get them all, are they guaranteed to stay?
For example...
If I had Bam move in during the second week of playing, how do I get him to stay FOREVER? So when I'm playing 7 months from now, he will still live in my town.

vilagers will always have a chance of attempting to move out, however they will normally ping you about it when they are

just tell them no and then wait until they try to move again and repeat the process

also try talking to all your villagers at least once at least every few days, because if you go too long without talking to them they won't ping you about anything anymore

also also, if you want to be safe try spam-talking to at least 3 villagers every few days as well to see if they tell you about anyone planning to move

the villager planning to move will ALWAYS be outside, never in the shopping district, inside their or another villager's home, or Re-Tail. only exception to this obviously would be their sleeping hours and possibly just after they wake up/before they go to sleep

moving villagers will always ping you at the earliest 5 days before their scheduled moving date

villagers will eventually want a break from you if you talk to them enough in one sitting if that's what you're asking

which is basically what I meant by spam-talking to them, just choose 3 and talk to all of them until they all get tired of you

the one moving won't tell you about them moving when you talk to them, but having 2 backups for each of the 3 villagers basically ensures one will tell you about the other moving

My last villager moved in around early 2014 and I have not had a single move out. Here's what I've been doing.

• As soon as someone pings and asks to move I open up the game notes on my 3DS and write down the day they were planning to move away on under the title "last safe day" as that is the last guaranteed day that you can play until and not have to worry about someone moving. After writing that down I tell them no they can't move.

• Second thing, on the same note I also write down my last day played, so that way if I don't play Animal Crossing for a little while I know what day I last played on (this is a bit optional as you could always play on your last recorded safe day instead)

• If someone pings again before reaching your last safe day, then just open your game notes and update the date to the move out date that they told you.

• If you are on the last "safe" day make sure to talk to everyone and try to find that one moving villager. Sometimes there isn't one but usually there is.

This method sounds complicated but it's not so bad once you get into routine. I've been doing it for months now and have not had one move out. :)

Oh yeah, and if you're going to be gone for a while you can stop someone from moving and so long as you don't continue playing the next day* or any time after nobody will attempt to move out while you're gone. Though once you load up on a new day the game will start setting up for someone to plan to move again.

This can also be used if you want to jump really far ahead in the future for special events or to buy seasonal items or whatever else without losing anyone. Keep in mind though that TTing backwards always counts as 1 day forward by the game's programming.

*a new day in Animal Crossing starts at 6:00am not 12:00am

I don't have a town full of dreamies but I have a town full of villagers I want to keep for the time being.

I try to talk to everyone on a regular basis. Even if I can't or don't want to do it every day, I'll try to talk to everyone over the course of 2-3 days. If a villager always seems to be in shops or in the museum and I don't have the time to come back later or to play until they're outside, I'll TT forward an hour or two until they're outside so I can talk to them normally. Talking to everyone on a regular basis means that villagers are more likely to ping me, and if I forget about them or if they don't, someone else will probably tell me that the other villager is planning on moving.

There's a limit on how much you can talk to a villager over a short span of time (they'll tell you to go away because they need to think) so I talk about half a dozen times with them. If I'm in a hurry, I may talk to them less than that but still more than once. By the way, that limit only applies to talking to them within a short time frame. If you talk to them lots of times, go away and do something else, and later return and talk to that villager more, they won't get sick of talking to you as easily.

When I take a break from the game, I use the methods I discuss here: http://www.belltreeforums.com/showthread.php?209379-How-To-Not-Lose-Villagers-When-You-re-Away . There are two different ones I use depending on whether I'm planning on taking a break or whether it's unexpected.
