I've been trying for two years now to grow blue roses and to this day I still haven't been able grow a single one!
I have used fertilizers almost every day, without any results.

So, how did you grow blue roses? I planted two red roses and one purple rose. That way I got a hybrid red rose and kept watering until I had enough hybrid red roses. So, the hybrid red roses I planted DID spawn purple roses, but not a single blue rose.

Please tell me the secret to growing a blue rose successfully.

Breed an orange rose using a yellow and a red rose.

Breed a purple rose using two white roses.

Breed the orange and the purple rose.

Keep any red rose that comes from them, as that is your hybrid red.

Destroy or move any other orange or purple that spawn, as they don't have the proper parents, so remember your planting order with the orange, and the purple.

When you have two hybrid reds, plant them, and use fertilizer.

Time travel helps, as it can take a while to get your blue rose, but you WILL get it.

Once you have two blue roses, they breed very easily.

Also remember your hybrid red planting order, and disguard any red roses that spawn from your hybrid red.
They are useless.

Good luck! ^_^

patience and luck basically

I got my first one by using my flower box and a jacob's ladder with my two hybrid reds. I'm still trying to get my next one, and I'm using fertilizer and more pairs..

Patience, fertilizer, and Jacob's. I have a whole entire area filled with blue roses if you'd like to come pick up 2.

Jacob's Ladders do nothing to help breed hybrids.

They take up space is all.

ah well the one in my flower box looks nice so I'll leave it there. I like to think it did help as it was where I bred my first blue rose :p

It's occupying a space where a hybrid could spawn. :(

Um. Yes they do lol.

Quoted literally from the ACNL wiki

This flower does not breed when planted next to other Jacob's Ladders or other flowers, though it does increase the chance of breeding other flowers when planted next to them.
proof

If you're having issues with space, just breed on the beach. Plenty of space there.

That's not proof. :-|

Jacob's Ladders are a separator.

They do NOT have anything to do with the actual hybrid spawning.

????? i think that them literally being coded into the game to improve hybrid spawning is proof enough.....

Where's your proof that they don't help? My proof is hundreds of players confirming that they do increase hybrid spawn across multiple forums over multiple years.

more proof

thanks for clearing this up, I was hoping they were indeed coded to help increase hybridization

Guides aren't proof!

I'm going by experience, plus the opinion and testing of many, many other people.

If you google it, you will find that they do nothing.

Nowhere have I read JL's are 'coded' to increase spawning. O_o

They are a blocker!

Over & Out.

What I did was I got my grandparents set (red x yellow and white x white) from the island because I wanted to be absolutely sure I was starting with a blank slate. There's so much that goes on in the genetics, I just wanted to start from true Generation 1. I don't think that actually matters, but that's what I wanted to do. I watered those two pairs every day to get two orange and two purple. Replanted them and watered those until I got hybrid reds. Replanted those and started a hybrid red field. Once I got 6 hybrid reds I planted a jacob's ladder in one of my hybrid red pairs and a buried fertilizer in the second. It took me 2 months of irl time to finally get the blue rose. And it did spawn from the pair with the jacob's ladder.

Take what you will from it. That's just my own experience. Good luck to you! I'm still waiting for my second blue rose.

they block potential hybrids IF the setup you use is too close to a walled area.

there are also searches that say they do aid in growing hybrids. honestly, I believe they do, but not as much as fertilizer can.
it doesn't hurt to try using them on something like a flower bed or a wide beach space

edit: without a datamine of the game mechanics nothing can be proven or disproven.

It doesn't hurt to try, it will slow the process down, by taking up a space where a blue rose might have spawned.

Honestly, I got my blue roses the way I posted, after trying a lot of other nonsense I had read.

When you have your hybrid red roses (see my original post), it's just fertilizer, patience, time, and luck. ^_^

Listen, y'all are probably bumming out OP. You're both arguing at this point just to be right for the sake of being right. If people want to believe it works, let them believe, bruh. If they don't believe, then they don't have to. Until either of you can pull the actual software coding out of the game and point out if it is or isn't coded to help, then neither of you are right and neither of you can back up your argument with valid proof and resources. So just agree to disagree and let it mcgo.

I'm not arguing, dear.

I'm trying to help someone successfully breed a blue rose.

I do that, with my free time, because I enjoy helping people.

I don't do it to be 'right'.

I never actually bred my first blue rose, I bought them from other players and then breezed more from there. If you’re buying hybrids from another player, make sure they’re not hacked. They will not breed more blue roses, it’ll give you white or red roses. Make sure the hybrids you get are legit or come in a flower bag. :)

I’ve tried breeding them on my own before that but it’s so time consuming. I give major kudos to everyone who went though the process!
