How to catch a centipede?

How does one catch a centipede? My town hasn't seen a single drop of rain since I became mayor.

Snow/rain is random, I'm pretty sure...

I don't think centipedes have anything to do with rain? Most times I remember catching them were dry days. Hit all the rocks I town with a shovel, if one doesn't appear, go in a building, leave, try again.

Edit; apparently they're available 4pm-11pm.

Oh my god, I got one. I've always hit my rocks in the morning so I never found one...

I forgot to add the they are only after 4pm to 11. So glad you got one. I still have to catch another for my museum. 1st I caught Rosie wanted it.
