how to always get pings for pwps?

i have tried the diving trick over and over again, with pockets full of flowers or empty. a villager either never pings or asks me random questions.

is there any way to guarantee you'll get a suggestion?

I don't think there's a guarantee but you can try increasing your luck (wear the lucky item/feng shui)

Here is one : buy the timer from the T.I.Y shop.
Do NOT let your self be seen by your villagers for 5 MINUTES
(Best way to do this is to swim in the ocean)
Make sure not to go inside houses or at mainstreet. It will reset and won't work.
Make sure to empty your pockets and bring less than 100 bells. It is not necessary,but just to make sure that your villagers dont buy from you or they dont sell you items.
After 5 minutes is up,walk in front of a villager,they will ping you,and they might ask for a PWP

Notes to keep in mind :
There is a chance that they will ask to change their catchphrase,so best thing to do is just do the steps over again.
They can only ping you a PWP once a day.(this has not been confirmed)
Only certain villager personalities request certain PWPs (eg. Crankies only ask for Zen PWPs)
There is a chance they will not ping you at all.
Just keep trying

grr >.< do you stay in the water long enough? I sometimes stay for a bit longer than 10mins to be sure.

I usually get more pwp requests the longer I stay in the water lol, oddly enough :/

I actually did not need to do all this. I let the game flow naturally, and I got loads of requests in no time. Lol.

Seems to totally random from what I've seen. I do the diving trick, too. I had a nice streak going where a villager suggested a PWP every day and then no one suggested anything yesterday.

ahh yes, i forgot. if a villager is moving out and they haven't told you yet, they will most likely be the one to ping you to let you know they're moving. Once you tell them yes/no about their moving out, TT the next day and the that should be good.

Some tips for making the water method more effective..

1. After an hour of playing, villagers won't ping you anymore. You have to talk to one until they say something like "you should take a break" and apparently this resets it, but I just save and quit and then load the game again.

2. Don't close the 3DS while waiting.

3. Villagers are much more likely to ping you if you run past them, not walk.

4. This is how I do it- I run past every villager in my town twice, if none pinged me I go back out to sea for another 5 minutes. I've noticed that they all tend to ping me at least once, I never get the same one pinging me twice. So after all have pinged me, I will save and quit then reload the game. Not sure if I really need to do that but better safe than sorry I guess.

5. The best thing to do is have your inventory completely full of bells and tools. Why? Because if your inventory is empty, they can still give you free presents. If it's completely full of bells, they can't buy OR give you stuff.

I always wait 5 min, someone always pings me. It might not be PWP though, it might be a catchphrase or something. I just repeat.
