i bought a switch lite of my own to have my own animal crossing island separate from my family, but i'm suddenly having thoughts of how stable it is considering there's no cloud save for acnh. i hear stories of joycon drifts, battery depleting, etc. for the normal switch, but at least that seems to be easier to replace?

Personally cloud save doesn't bother me since I never used such services. It's definitely stable since I've unintentionally dropped it from low altitudes and it hasn't been any seen damage. I do agree unless you can fix drift with air compression spray it can be a bit troublesome to send it the whole things. And battery is definitely alright, I don't know how good/bad the OG was but it lasts as it should and I play a lot.. oop.

also I don't mind having "attached" controllers either, since I don't play those games that would need/requires it. And knocks on wood no drift for me but hopefully that can be fixed by spraying some air into it.

Mine has been solid so far - I use it regularly and take it out with me too and it has taken a beating in the process I'm sure. I do have a hard-shell case for it, but it's survived a good few knocks and bumps. I've not had to do any major repair work to it myself yet.

It depends how technical you're willing to be with it if you do have issues...obviously, Nintendo's recommendation is you send it to them to get repaired whether it's the Switch or Switch Lite.

Joycon drift is still a thing with the Lites as far as I know, though I've not had any issues on my Lite to date. If you did need to replace the joycons, in my opinion, it's pretty easy to swap out the module on a Switch Lite - Nintendo do have a habit of making their consoles' interiors very modular.

The battery life is shorter on the Lite anyway, but if you did need to replace it (and you know how to replace the battery in a regular Switch) the process is basically exactly the same. You would just need to ensure the battery is suitable (correct voltage and w/h - it's printed on the Switch Lite battery).

it's shorter? thought it was reverse but yeah if you're looking for a cheaper not-so bundled up in price alternative it's good plus i prefer handheld since i play on the go a lot.. the OG is a must if you want to connect to tv though since u cant do it on lite

As far as I'm aware the Switch Lite battery is better than the original model Switch, but not quite as good as the new model Switch.
It's something like...Switch Lite estimates 4 to 6 hours, new model Switch estimates 4.5 to 9 hours (old model estimated 2.5 to 6.5).
To be honest though it totally depends on the games you're playing - also the Switch uses more battery in general for the detached Joycons and stuff if you're in table-top mode, so yeah, it's very much a "your mileage may vary" situation but going off of what Nintendo state is all their spec jargon, the Switch Lite a little behind the Switch in terms of battery life.

Ahh okay. I mean I play a lot so it might last shorter because of that but I've heard different things so thanks for clearing it up :)

oohh thank you guys for the answer! my problem is just that i'd have to send mine internationally if anything goes wrong so cross fingerss.
