i was just like you when i first started! i didn't know about the whole trading community when i first got NL two years ago, but when my original villagers asked to move i immediately told them not to. it wasn't for at least six months that i realized there were better ones out there.

anyways it depends on who they are. when i reset my old town i had a list of villagers i wanted, so i was determined to move out all of my originals, (unless they were on my list) but i got attached to a few of them and kept them for awhile. but at this point i don't have any of them anymore. :c

i ened up with chief in my town, manilla, and i didnt know he was tier 1 until 2 months later. i got super attached to him during that time, his design is simple but cute. i love him! i hope he never moves out lol

After the first game, I stopped keeping any villager I didn't absolutely love. However sometimes you luck out and get someone you adore in the very beginning!

I love a lot of my starting villagers. I don't think I could ever give Freckles away. I was going to keep Fuchsia and Freya until I got all their PWPs but they have grown on me as well. Weirdly a lot of my favourite villagers are pink even though I don't care for that colour.

When I started my game back in 2013 I didn't know about the online community. Over time, I've grown really attached to them. Even though I can see their are cuter villager, villagers with better designs, villagers with nicer homes, ect. I don't think I want to part with the ones I've got. I'm a big softy too and don't want to see them go. I currently have 3 of my original five still with me. First one moved while I was working at summer camp and couldn't play everyday, the second one moved so that I could try to get a new normal villager or maybe someday even get the first one who moved back.

I didn't keep any of my starting villagers. I didn't really care for any of them, and I had other plans in mind for my town.

Hmm,

For my town, so far I've kept pretty much all my villagers from the starting point. Except 1! Gladys recently moved and now I'm looking for another normal personality type villager, I think it would be nice to have a variety, but yeah I'm hoping to let go all my villagers throughout the year, just to see new ones come and also get a picture from each of them <3

It depends on who they are, of course. If I end up getting a villager I really like or want, then yes, I would, but if I don't, I'll still let them stay in my town for a while to see if I end up liking them. If I don't, then I'll just kick them out.

BTW I have none of my originals in my town. I can't even remember who they were lol

I have two of the starting 5 still in my town almost 2 years later. I also still have 2 of the first set of random move-ins still in my town. For two of them (both of which happen to be the ones that were a part of the first five), I haven't let them go because they're my children basically, but the other two, I definitely feel the whole "difficult to let go" thing. I don't overly love them, but I can't bear to part with them. And plus, I like them enough and it would be too much of a hassle to get 2 more villagers I like if I let them go.

vertigo, don't worry! the villagers won't be gone, they will live happily somewhere else :]. I try to kick the villagers out immediately because I need my dreamies ・○・

I kept 4 of my original villagers in my first town. I had that town for more than a year when I restarted. In Pripyat, I only have 1 (Frank) and I'll eventually let him go. I'm only quick to kick them out if I dislike them and/or their house is in the way of where I want to place a PWP.

in my main town I kept many of my starters for a long time, but now everyone but Lucky is gone... at least I think Lucky was a starter??
I have had Genji since the very beginning of my town (genji moved in one day after it was created) but he wasn't a starter.
I'm pretty sure my starters were pompom, gigi, croque, dora and lucky??

in my second town I won't keep any starters because it is an all frog town and I had an alligator, a pig, a chicken, a bear and a gorilla when i started smh

In my first town I kept Hamlet, and all the other starters moved away. I grew fond of Hamlet and I've never let him leave. The other villagers were replaced with dreamies.

In my second town, Merengue was a starting villager. As she was my dreamie for that town, she is never leaving and the others were eventually replaced. I think its nice to keep one starting villager, just as a reminder of when you first started (especially if its been a long time) Hamlet has been there over 2 years now and it probably wouldn't be the same without him.

In my first town, I tried to keep my originals (I only have two now). In my second town, the first time I tried to get rid of my originals for a theme. I restarted my second town, again I tried to sell my originals. I restarted my second town again, this time I might keep my originals

It's entirely dependent on whether I bond with them or not. In my most recent town, I still have Del and Daisy, whom I made connections with early on. The other three, Punchy, Moose and Tipper, have moved on.

I pick my towns for the layout & not for the villagers. That means every starter villager leaves as soon as I can force them out. Most of my dreamies were moved over from my first town, so they all had to go.

I didn't but only because I enjoy getting the villagers pictures. The last one to move out was Molly just a month or so ago.... 3 years and she moved out finally. I was so upset when I let her go.
