How much more fencing????

Hello,

I'm trying to get my island to 5 stars. Isabelle keeps saying to build more fencing, and I'm almost certain I have far exceeded the 200-250 number everyone on the internet seems to agree on. My entire island is a fence now. Some have said that it could be the type of fence/type of DIY's I have on the island, but I haven't the slightest idea what would go with what. She still occasionally says I need to buy more items from Nooks shop and use my miles to get recipes/items...but nothing quite like the fencing. My island is trash. I just want those stupid flowers...

This was my problem too! I finally got to 5 stars by building fences randomly everywhere as well as dropping random pieces of furniture.

I’m not sure but I think you need a even distribution of crap in every grid. So if you have a lower half that’s super developed and upper half that’s wild you won’t get to 5 stars. At least this is what I’ve read somewhere.

So I ended up building bits of 2-4 fences everywhere.

i really don't feel like i had that many fences when i received my 5 star rating. try dumping a bunch of furniture dispersed around your island instead and see what she says?

Yeah I think it's based on how many you have per grid. When I was originally trying to get to 3 stars, I dumped a couple pieces of furniture in every grid and that did the trick. I've seen people say the same for fences.

It takes a ton of wood, but I used some log stakes for fencing and she seemed to really like that. I think it might have ticked 2 boxes at once?

If you have a ton of fencing and she's still asking for more fencing try adding different types of fencing instead

Yeah, I think it has to do with grids as well. I went to 5 stars when I dropped some palm tree lamps on the beaches.

Isabelle is throwing out random suggestions. If you believe you have enough fences, try adding more trees, flowers, shrubs, and furniture, and make sure nothing is cluttered.

The only suggestions Isabelle gives that actually matters is what to get rid of imo. I dumped a bunch of fish tanks outside to free up inventory space and it actually increased my score. The grid system others have talked about sounds pretty plausible.
