i think he's pretty popular but not one of the most sought after. i really really wanted to keep him but as i thought about it, i think his house is in a bad spot >.> such a shame;;;

i'm thinking of maybe auctioning him but i don't really know how much people would usually be willing to pay for him?

Same for me D: Chief is my dreamie but he has a bad spot too i was thinking to let him go and replace him as another cranky.

I can't exactly answer your question, but if I were you I wouldn't give up on a dreamie just because of a bad house placement.
In my village Boone's house is in perhaps the worst possible spot in town but I would never ever let him go, I just love him too much...
