I think when i started the game i only reset for maybe 20min to get peaches, a airport lined with the resident services (regret), and a yellow airport. My sister on the other hand reset for like 3 or 4 hours
It's funny that I didn't, considering I was the resetting queen in New Leaf. It never occurred to me that that was something you could do. I figure if I didn't like the layout of rivers and stuff I could fix it with terraforming which is exactly what I did. I don't care too much about fruit cause you can grow all of them but I did start off with peaches. I also didn't know the airport came in different colors lol. Thinking about it now, really the only thing I would change is where my town hall is and I guess make my airport blue because mine is orange but it's not something I'd reset over. I like the villagers I have bonded with too much haha. Plus I really don't want to start from step one all over again.
I got my friend into the game when it was still being hyped and wasn't out yet, and so we went out to get it together on the 20th. We came back to my house and played it together, and she's much more of a casual player so I actually only reset like 3 times and she was like "omg stop being a perfectionist! hurry up so we can exchange fruit" so i settled for one i kinda liked. fast forward and i still have that island today, and honestly i'm happy with it! sometimes i wish i had oranges as my fruit or roses as my native flower but that's okay. you can't really tell which is your native at this point. the map is great, and i'm glad i picked it. i think i got lucky with getting a good one super early on.
I didn't know that was something we could reset for so I didn't... I also didn't know we could reset the airport... and in all honesty that's what I regret not reseting the most t.t
I reset 2-3 times at the beginning to try to get a red airport, but I settled on blue. At that time, I didn't know that rocks and the docks could be different, so I mainly looked at airport color and placement and plaza placement and river openings. I was lucky enough to get a long dock, but I wish I had a big rock area, though it's not the end of the world.
I just picked one of the four they gave me. I guess people care about things like rock formations and airports...but, I'm kind of indifferent to all that...so I never considered any of the island designs to be "permanent"...only jumping-off points for terraforming.
I'd honestly love nothing more than to start this game over. But, since you can only have one singular island per Switch...that isn't going to happen. It's a huge bummer. Because, I would do it otherwise. Make a new island to obsess over, and be super meticulous with...and keep my current one just because it's my current one. Lol.
Not at all. My initial map had a very good layout and my second-favorite airport color, but what really sealed the deal was that I got one of my favorite villagers, Teddy, as one of my first two villagers. So as soon as I saw him, I knew I wouldn't be resetting.
In hindsight, if I had known that the flat rocks came in different sizes, or that the peninsulas could be different shapes, I might have reset for a bigger peninsula and larger rocks, but even then I migh not have, as I'm very happy with my map.
I didn’t and I’m happy with the map I got. Having it not be “perfect” forced me to be more creative with ideas I implemented through terraforming. You learn to maximize each of the areas you have and that’s allowed me to come up with themed areas I probably wouldn’t have if my map layout was “perfect” from the start.
I didn't know about any of these unchangeable parts of the map. XD It's not perfect, but over the course of playing the game, I've learned how to work with what I've got.
I didn't even think about resetting. By the time I did I was so far in and too attached to my villagers. I didn't like my island to start with and didn't realize how annoying a double south end island is.
In the previous games, I just picked a map that looked good and when I reset NL a long time ago, I just picked one of the options they gave me without trying again.
I like my island now and I take it as a challenge to work with the double south end rivers
I reset for like 6 hours on release day, but that’s because I wanted my native fruit to not be cherries/apples, a blue airport, 2 decent starting villagers, and east/west rivers. This was before we knew about the default starter homes your first 5 villagers get, so that part was a waste of time lol. I’m happy with my map and I’m not going to reset again, so I guess it was worth it in the end.
WOW. I'm stunned more people didn't reset It never occurred to me NOT to reset, ESPECIALLY since I knew I'd be investing more time in this town/island than any game before.
I didn't reset a ton, but I definitely reset a fair amount. I also started one island and played it for about a day before going back and resetting and getting my current one. I got very efficient at resetting in ACNL- I know what things I want, and I can quickly scan an island to figure out exactly where they would all go. I was prepared to reset as much as I needed to in order to find the best island for what I wanted... but the only reason I didn't was because I found the right one surprisingly quickly.
I think I reset three or four times, mostly just for peaches and a blue airport. I wanted to be pickier with the Resident Services' location, as well, but I was too excited to start playing on release day, and I'm determined to make it work as is
I haven’t reset. I didn’t even know you could reset to get a different color airport. I never even noticed my airport’s color lol. Learn something new every day.
I reset at the very beginning, but not because of fruit or features... I put Pheobe's house in the wrong spot, and it wasn't aligned with Axel's, and I had a feeling it would be a while until I could moved her house. So instead, I just reset after about 20 minutes of playing, and I actually got lucky because I got cherries for a second time (my favourite AC fruit) and the Airport was a nice blue.
I didn't reset, I just picked the map I liked the most of the first four I was shown.
I told myself I wasn't going to reset for anything because if I started resetting I don't know how long it would have been until I actually got to play the game.
