I love my Wii to death. I waited 33 hours in Wal-Mart for it, and therer hasn't been a day I haven't played it. Unfortunately, I have had three Wii tragedies. My first story takes place on the last day of last school year. I didn't have any finals to take that day, so I brought my Wii to school to play during study halls. It was 8th period, and I was hooking my Wii up to the TV in my biology class. The TV is hanging from the ceiling, so I had to stand on a lab table to get to it. I set the Wii on the lab table and started to hook everything up. Everything was hooked up except for the sensor bar, and the sensor bar's cord was plugged into the Wii. I picked up the sensor bar, stood on the lab table, and I was fiddling around with it to see if I should put it above or below the TV. Suddenly, the cord got wrapped on my arm, and when I tugged at it it brought the whole Wii with it. I watched in horror as the Wii flew off the table and hit the hard tile floor. When it hit it bounced and jerked over quickly, and after shaking around a little, it stood still. My jaw was wide open. I thought that was it, that was the end of my Wii! I can't believe I didn't cry. I was just shocked. After standing there looking down in shock for awhile, I dropped to the ground and picked it up. It had a faint long diagonal line marked into the side and the SD card slot flap was broken off, but other than that it looked fine. I popped the SD card slot flap back in place and put the sensor bar below the TV. When it turned on the first time I pressed the power button I was relieved. I put Wii Sports in, but it gave me an error screen. The horrible thoughts came back to me. I took the disc out and tried again. It work. I was relieved again. So with that mess out of the way, my classmates and I all played some Wii Sports.
My second story happened not too long ago, towards the end of May. I had just purchased an on-the-go storage case for my Wii called the "G-Pak" at GameStop. It stored everything! All 12 of my Wii games, my Remotes, my Nunchucks, my Wii Wheels, and even my Zapper. The Wii is stored in it horizontally, with a Velcro strap over it. The box says that you can even play you Wii straight from the case. It warns you not to have your Wii in WiiConnect24 Standby mode in the case unless you open the case's side flaps, or else your Wii may overheat. I followed the instructions and opened the flaps, and I went to bed. In the morning, I was awakened by my brother saying the Wii wouldn't turn on. I quickly got up and scurried over to the TV. My Wii was still in the case with the flaps open. I touched it, and it was so hot it nearly burned my hand. I panicked and tore all the cords from it. I paced back and forth fearing the worst. Is this the end? Was my Wii bricked? Then I had an idea. I opened the window and set the Wii on the window sill for it to cool down. I waited about 20 minutes and picked it back up. It wasn't hot anymore, but would it still work? I reconnected all the cords, and I was shocked to find that it still worked. I was so glad I had been so lucky.
