How long does it take to do the villager reset trick for an exact placement?

Hoping to get feedback from someone who has actually done a lot of resetting for villager placement. In your opinion, how long would it take to get a villager in a very specific place? I'm planning on saying goodbye to one of my current villagers and then having another villager move in at the exact same place. So only that very specific spot will do. Is that feasible or will that take weeks of resetting to accomplish? Thanks! :)

it could take a while, but if a lot of areas in your town are filled with pwp's it will make it much faster. I reset for Diana's placement in my town, took about 45 mins, and she ended up plotting one space to the right.

Thanks. Yeah, my village is pretty much full. There aren't many places left to put down a house. Actually I was thinking of using up the last few public works spots I have to put signs in a few areas to limit it even more...

It shouldn't take too long then, i'd say maybe 30 mins-2 hours or so? Depending on how fast you go. I think it'd be a good idea to put down those signs.

It could take a few minutes. It could take a few hours. It could take a few days. It all of course depends on the town layout. The longest amount of time I ever took to plot reset was 10 hours. Frita was always one spot away from where I wanted her, and so I had to keep going and eventually she moved into the spot I wanted! It does depend though, since you said you are restricting where they plot, it could take a lot less time. Most villagers are also inclined to move into the spot of the previous villager so it could be even faster.

Thanks a lot, this has made me feel more confident that I can do this without going nuts :)
