how long does it take for a pierced ear to close?

im not sure, but for me it didnt take long. i got mine pierced when i was about two years old, but i never wore earrings and they covered up before i got into kindergarten. now i just have these annoying bumps where the piercings used to be

i got my ears pierced 8 yrs ago and havent worn earings in a year and theyre still open so

I got my ears pierced sixteen years ago and I haven't worn earrings in at least ten years and they're both still open. Even if they did close, getting your ears pierced is like the least painful thing ever so it wouldn't be that big of a deal to get them re-pierced.

Depends where in the ear. Ear cartilage piercings can close if left unpierced. The common low earlobe piercing most likely won't close if you haven't worn earrings in a while.

I have had my ears pierced for several years and they're still open like the day they got pierced so I don't think that you can...yeah

You would have to rip the inside and basically re-open them so they are wounds again to make them heal closed completely

I haven't worn earrings for about a year and they're still open. Though, I had to pierce through a thin layer of skin (which I think was them attempting to close?) to fully insert the earring.

My cartilage piercings which I had in for maybe 6 months to a year both closed after not wearing earrings for 2 weeks. My lobe piercings took longer to close but it did after a while (had one lobe pierced for 3 years before I decided not to wear an earring there). My main lobes probably won't close anytime soon because they're stretched.

i have had my ears pierced twice

the first time they got infected so i had to take off the earrings and they didn't take long to close. i think it took about two weeks to a month but im not sure. i think it depends how long you've had them pierced.

I got my ears pierced like 7 years ago but I don't like earrings so yeah

7 years ago? Have you worn your earrings since then? Cus if so you're kinda screwed.

I got my ears pierced at the ripe old age of 4, wore earrings til 6th grade, and now I'm in my early 20's and I can still stick things through them.

Reading other people's responses made me wonder. My earlobe piercing that I've had for 10 years or so closed in about 2 months. Or at least people tell me they've closed.

My sister got them pierced a year ago, she says they're starting to close in which makes earrings hurt. I wouldn't know though.

I got my ears pierced when I was...7? So that was like 15 years ago. I wore earrings all the time, and then I stretched my lobes in high school, one bigger than the other. The bigger one never closes no matter how long it's been (I don't wear earrings anymore except for my two helix piercings) and my other one I have to be more careful with. It's almost closed on me a couple times. So it depends on the person.

I have a friend who doesn't wear earrings because her ears are sensitive, but her piercings never close.

depends on you.

It varies, I have a good ear and a bad ear, my bad ear didn't like earrings, got inflamed a lot and when I started stretching it fought me at every turn, I took out my 00g for like a day and it closed, my other ear never closes, I've lost my 5/8thg earrings a lot for like a week and they've hardly shrunk... it's my good ear so. But even my bad ear didn't close all the way I can still fit like my stylus in it? (I don't know what gauge that is...) But I don't put anything in it and it stays that large so...

Did you keep earrings in your ears for a long time after they got pierced? They'll close up eventually, but if you kept something in the holes then it'll take a while to close them completely. Cartilage heals faster than the lobe, so it depends on where it was pierced.

Depending on how big they are and how long you've had them stretched to you can stick a size smaller plug in your ear and it will heal down a size.
