I wasn't really trying to get it, but I did manage to achieve perfect town status sometime in mid July (I started my game in June 9).
But because I've had villagers moving in and out since then, I've lost the status a few times. I'm trying to build more PWPs now, before my next villager leaves early next month, so I can hopefully maintain the status this time.
I have several PWPs built but those villagers always want more. I'm starting to only pump bells into my house; the current PWPs I have to choose from are kind of boring, anyway.
From when I started trying, about a week. I never used the acre system. I just went by my tested rule of, make sure there's flowers in every section of land on the screen. So if there's any part of my town that didn't have flowers on the screen I'd plant some there. And I built a few PWPs after that. I think I got just 10 PWPs when I got PTS.
I honestly don't know, I didn't notice until I got a jacob's ladder, then the next day when I checked she told me it had been 15 days or over or something? It could have been perfect for a while, but I didn't even notice/wasn't trying. It was probably 2 weeks or so. o:
I got one last week, so it took me around a month? A month and a half? I just went crazy with flowers and built the PWPs I wanted, so it kind of snuck up on me.
It's insane how much easier it is to get a perfect town in NL compared to the previous games... I remember marking out each acre just to make sure I had enough trees and flowers. Now people are doing it without even noticing!
