How long did it take everyone to find their dreamies?

I started my town on the second of this month, and I've got quite far! I had Fauna held from my old town, and Punchy as a starter. But the rest, took lots of hunting!
I will help if you like, it depends on how much you stalk people with your dreamies for trade! TBT is a great community, so there's always people willing to help you buy and give you dreamies c:

I've only got two of my dreamies. One was there from the beginning and the other moved herself in not too long after that. Still waiting for the others to pop up.

All you need is time, and eventually you will get your dreamie. The only thing is, many of us don't have a lot of spare time! Don't be discouraged, just change your perspective. The hunting part, at least for me, was the most fun. Even losing out in auctions is sometimes fun, even if it's discouraging at the same time since it makes winning at auction or finding a random giveaway that much sweeter.
As a side note, after I achieved my dream town, I enjoyed it for a few months, but then, it got stale. I have since let all of my original dreamies go, and am rotating villagers out and seeing new ones. My new goal is to meet all 333 villagers!

I don't have dreamies, but I plan on keeping a few villagers I like in my town!
@teawinks - be sure to check the Animal Crossing villager adoption Tumblrs, not just the forum! I got a bunch of villagers from Tumblr, and most of them were free or WAY less than I'd have to pay on the forum. If you aren't sure of the links for the Tumblrs, I'm sure someone else can link you to them, and if they don't, I can PM you when I get home from work.

It took me about 4 days to find Charlise.
In my past town it usually took awhile to find the villagers I wanted.
Most of the time they were voided before I could adopt them. :/

Are your dreamies expensive? If so, you could start saving back each turnip day. You could buy 1 or more lockers full of turnips and it'll net you a ton of money. I generally end up with 7-9 mil per locker from buying turnips depending on the price and how much I tip. I sold 8 lockers worth of turnips last weekend coming out with around 80 mil in the end. I've seen all kinds of villagers go up for sell here on TBT. I'm sure you'll run into your dreamies eventually/ be able to buy them.
Also to note:
The more you browse these forums, the more you'll find your dream villager going for free, for raffles, in cycling towns. I've seen Beau (one of my dreamies I got recently) in tons of auctions, raffles, cycling towns etc. I actually got him for free from a cycling town. There's tons of active people here :3 I see a new ankha thread like 20 times a day I swear!~ Haha. Well not that many, but it's quite often.
Also to note:

when i had no worries for schooling or a job like i do now, i was able to get all my town's dreamies in about 5 months of nonstop playing/searching the web.

I got my Animal Crossing the day it was released and from that day to a few days ago, is how long it took. I wasn't in any rush, and I kept changing my dreamies along the way. But I'm finally satisfied with my loves at the moment. <33
Your turnip tip is so helpful! I never really played around with that before and was planning on doing the island beetle trick forever for bells so thank you! My top dreamies are expensive so that will really help.
I don't know if I can take the stress of cycling raffles, I just missed Beau today by a few minutes and I'm way too bummed over this video game.

I haven't completed mine yet, but per dreamy depends on how popular your dreamies are. I have about half of mine and I've had the game since July 5th. However, I haven't been searching that whole time. I've only looked for about 2 months.
