I restarted my cycle town for something permanent and on my first reset I think I got somewhat of a pretty decent town map layout? Would love some second opinions as ive never actually reset for a good town map. It already looks better than my first one but please be picky for me because I dont know common things to look out for :( I'm already slightly annoyed by the town square not being in the top middle area but.. I can see myself working with that area?

Also, I know there's no perfect layout/no "best" whatever.... but ... you know. There's some that just work so much more conveniently.

all the shops are close together so that's nice, but i can see the house closest to the bottom be a hard place to reach, considering the other house is a far length across the river. i think you'd find better maps tbh.

It looks like a pretty good one to me, it would be soooo perfect with the square on the other side of the river c: Theres also tons of space for PWP. I'd pick that map and see what what fruit/villagers you get :)

Ohhh I just realized that section is kinda weirdly poking out. Im fine with the part above that since it could be a cool waterfall section, but yea it is a bit awkward. Thanks! This is exactly the type of advice I'm talking about :D

Yea Id probably do a neighborhood on the bottom half for villagers, and then do PWP sections all around. Would REALLY love for my town fruit to be peach but idk

I love the wide open spaces, and that it only has two ponds. But one thing I noticed is that Re-Tail is about as far away from the dock as you can get. Might be annoying running back and forth selling items from the island.

Got some cherries as town fruit and weird villagers and the town square placement isnt too great for me personally. Back to resetting~ ty!

Ended up with this map and Im really liking it! One pond by retail, square directly under the train station, split into 2, and the rocks are well placed. The fruit is cherries which isn't the one I wanted but perfect cherries look alright too.

I did kinda want a waterfall that point south and the starting villagers are awful but that's okay. Planning to put my house on the bottom right (I kinda wanted it to be on the top left of the bottom half but there are villager houses there :/

Probably gonna put campsite/coffee shop on the top left on the upper half.

sorry just kinda thinking outloud. Feel free to let me know what you guys think! ill be heading to bed :)

That map is lovely!! Congrats! :)

Personally I don't like it overmuch, its OK, there is no bad map - its all what you want & like.

I did kinda want a waterfall that point south and the starting villagers are awful but that's okay - given you say this I'm not certain you overlike it much either.

Great starter villagers are not a deal breaker as you can get them later - especially with the update coming next month.

As I use the island a lot (to get bells) I look for a map with R-Tail in the middle or south of the map. But if your emphasis is on visitors/turnip trading then R-Tail at the top works better.

I also look for a vertical ramp by the dock (for same reason, selling bugs at R-Tail) - but they are not so common and the one you have works perfectly well (I have towns with a sideways ramp, & I don't really think about it, but towns with a vertical ramp are that bit smoother to run up).

Think about where your main paths will be and see if there is anything blocking their routes - rocks basically & how many of them (I have one town with 9 and its been a pain).

Everything is workable - there is a post on reddit where a player is keeping a town with 6 ponds - partly I think cos it has so many ponds, but again its workable/landsacpable in.
Think hard what you want and go with that.

Edit: do you want a large private beach - useful for keeping hybrid reds (if after blue roses), but not necessary. I tend to like beaches that are quite deep (again not overly common) - can squish in more palms/do more with it.
Most players prefer the long beach that you have in this town (ie both ramps on the same beach) - I'm sorta on the fence with this one. If you have a south facing waterfall then you tend to have a divided beach - I don't mind them - just don the wet suit and cross that way).
No map will be perfect, most will need some compromise.

Another edit!: I'm not over keen on sideways runs from dock to R-Tail - from that view point your R-Tail works very well - you might be able to get a direct run through from dock to shop, so that its up by the tracks won't make much difference.

That map looks great in my opinion, you just have to put down a bridge were your mayor is standing on the picture as soon as possible, and it should be fine. ;)

Your map looks like a lovely town. I'd honestly never seen this one before out of the many resets I had o:
I really love the spot where your mayor is standing, the circled land especially. I don't really like how the waterfall where the river meets the ocean is THAT high, and the connected long beach but the town where it splits looks interesting itself :p
I'd look out for my town fruits though.. if it's not what I want, I'd reset it no matter what ;-;

Aifg I decided to reset. I just really didnt like my house placement and the thinness of the bottom section annoyed me :( im gonba regret this

I think thin sections of land are soo hard to work with. My town has a section that's pretty similar and I can't really think of anything to go there besides villagers and trees.. but none of my villagers seem to wanna live there!! so now it's an apple orchard aha :T Good luck resetting for a new map! :o)

Thanks v_v My main town fruit is actually apple so I wanted something different for my secondary. I think perfect peaches look soooo cool so I definitely wanted that, but honestly as long as it isn't pears I would be fine.

I ended up going with this map. The only thing im really kicking myself over is that my house is one slot too far to the right so I cant surround it with bushes! I'm actually really annoyed by that :/ Why do villagers keep plotting in the place I want to plot??? Otherwise it's awesome, peaches are the town fruit and it has a brown train station. Also, 1 pond with retail.
