How far apart should I plant trees?

I wanna make a pine tree grove/forest, a big one, but I wanna know how far apart I should plant the saplings so they grow

Im not sure what length it should be

You just need an empty space between them on all sides. But planting too much trees on a grid can stunt their growth.
