I’m really curious. I’ve been trying just about everything to keep track of my catalogs, wishlist items, gift ideas for villagers, etc., and have found that there are pros and cons to every solution out there. What method do you use for tracking these things and why have you chosen that one? Do you use multiple methods for different kinds of things (like cataloging versus trading lists)?

I’ve mostly been using Nookazon but am currently tempted to try Nook Plaza.

Spreadsheet. I like being able to make it myself with categories and sorting that is most helpful to me, and not be forced into whatever the particular designer of a web site did. I also like that I can have access to it even if the internet goes down. My internet is normally extremely stable, but a couple of times recently my internet has been down for hours at a time. I blame the higher load on the internet thanks to people staying at home from the pandemic.

I do use VillagerDB as reference, and I am using it for wishlists and for trade lists that others here can see.

Tracking? What is this 'tracking' you speak of?

Honestly, if I knew what was actually out there and available, I'd create a spreadsheet with a checklist. The problem is that I have yet to find a reliable list of what is available. Maybe I'm just hitting the wrong places or asking the wrong questions, but that's where it stands now. It would be nice if I had something in front of me, especially when buying at Ables.

i've been using nookazon just bc i started trading there as well, but i have also started my catalogue on nook plaza! c:

there's a spreadsheet with absolutely everything available in the game (found through datamines)

I don't. I just buy what I like and think I'll use. If I get duplicates, I just sell or trade.

The idea of not tracking catalogs is foreign to me lmao. I’ve been playing since GameCube, and I was like 8 years old then, and I still obsessively checked off boxes in the catalogs printed in the back of the Prima game guide. 😅

I might have a problem with completionist tendencies though. 😬

I've got a google doc from someone on reddit which has a checklist of everything in the game. It also gets updated frequently.

i track mine on villagerdb! while i don’t have a list of everything in the game, i use it to keep track of everything that i have which also helps me to keep track of what i don’t ;w;
