I used to pronounce it as ぺこえ (“Peckoweh” if you can’t read hiragana lol) but then I realized the e at the end could be silent and then went with Pecko. Then was curious and looked it up and apparently it’s like... Pico?

I’m still not 100% sure though lol. I’m also curious about how everyone here pronounces Pekoe as well. :p

I've always pronounced it as "pee-koe" because it reminded me of the Spanish word "pico" which means small, and I always thought it was because Pekoe is a cub/small bear. Then I realized Pekoe as a villager is suppose to be Japanese(?) so I'm not really sure if pico is the correct interpretation or pronunciation 😅

I pronounce it PEE-ko,like orange pekoe tea.According to the AC Wiki, her name and catchphrase(bud)come from terms associated with tea.I had her in New Leaf and also in New Horizons and I believe she has a tea set as part of her original furniture in both games.

edit:She has a tea set only in New Horizons

I settled on pronouncing it like pee-co, but I also pronounced it like peck-oh and peck-oh-eh at first.

I got her on my NL town recently and have been calling her ぺこえ too, but I have no idea why since she's clearly supposed to be Chinese not Japanese 😅 Piko sounds cute so I'm definitely switching to that from now on

Shes supposed to be Chinese inspired, her name in the Japanese version is Jasmine (another common tea) and her ears resemble a traditional Chinese hairstyle (like the hairstyle chun-li from street fighter has)

i used to pronounce her as “peh-ko”, but my sister said she uses the pronunciation “peh-koe-eh” so now my brain just hops back in fort between the two. : p

ah yes, I've been reading other's responses too that mention the pekoe tea! this makes way more sense than my version of Pekoe I created when I was younger who was a japanese-hispanic hybrid 😂

I’ve been pronouncing it Pee-ko, and I don’t even know why.
She suits Jasmine though, I love that!
