How do you pronounce Pekoe?

I've always pronounced it as "pee-koe" because it reminded me of the Spanish word "pico" which means small, and I always thought it was because Pekoe is a cub/small bear. Then I realized Pekoe as a villager is suppose to be Japanese(?) so I'm not really sure if pico is the correct interpretation or pronunciation

I am curious, what Spanish speaking region are you from or what region did you hear it from? I've never heard pico being referred to as being something small .-. I know if as in beak, sting (as in being stung), poke, and peak. I know that chico means small or young depending on the context.

I used to pronounce it as ぺこえ (“Peckoweh” if you can’t read hiragana lol) but then I realized the e at the end could be silent and then went with Pecko. Then was curious and looked it up and apparently it’s like... Pico?

I’m still not 100% sure though lol. I’m also curious about how everyone here pronounces Pekoe as well.

I usually say it as Peck-o ^^

I actually used to pronounce her name like "P-Echo", now I didn't realize I was pronouncing it incorrectly the entire time. Good to know, though I think her name is pretty ambiguous to pronounce, I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one!

Pekoe is a real word. As others have mentioned, it's a kind of tea, and it does have a specific pronunciation in the dictionary.

So, that's how I've always said it.

My mom and her side of my family are from Colombia! My mom didn't actually teach Spanish to my sister and I growing up, but we picked up bits and pieces from hearing it so often. So because I can't really speak it, I can't give you an example sentence that it would be used in, but I have definitely heard my family use it when referring to something small and cute! I also have a memory of getting a puppy stuffed animal and naming it "pico" because it was a little puppy and my mom thought it was really cute.
