It's been nearly a month and I still don't have the drive to pick up ACNL once more.

Though I don't care to finish my item catalog, fish/bug encyclopedia, town construction, or anything else I might have skipped, for whatever dumb reason I still somewhat care about villagers moving out unexpectedly. (Maybe its the lingering trauma of the 16 villager cycle hell)

I read there's a trick to making villagers stay in your town permanently until you boot up your game again. Is that true? How is it done and have you tried it yourself?

I appreciate any answers.

Yep! If you stop playing on a day you stop someone from moving, no one will want to move until you pick the game up again.

Yep! Snowesque is right! Stop playing on the day a villager asks to move out and they won't ask to move out until you pick it up again. My mom did this for all three of her towns and she hasn't had a villager move out on her unexpectedly. :)

Yep! I can confirm the above works! I do that if I know I won't be playing for a while. Thing is, the second you load up the game again, you'll have to do the same thing again.
