How do you personally do NMT island hopping when searching for a villager?

I'm currently trying to find a dreamie for my tenth slot but my tenth had moved out the day before yesterday and yesterday the slot was unfilled, I woke up today and thankfully still not filled but still need to island hop to find one I like!! I've gotten through like 15 nmt by now but I feel like my methods are too slow, I shake every tree and cut down every tree and grab the fruits and hit all the rocks (because I feel like the nook miles are wasted if I don't get a lot of worth out of the island visit itself)... I only collect the normal wood and sometimes hardwood (but not softwood) and obtain the furniture leaf from shaking the tree but ... so much time used!!!

How do you guys do the hopping? Just enter the island, see the villager, and leave?

If my goal is to find a villager, I go check on the villager and leave, yeah. Unless I get something like tarantula island (can villagers even spawn on that? I've never actually gotten it), or money rock island. I'm fine with resources so I don't really need anymore. I've also been lucky and have found two of my villagers fairly early on in my search (one at ticket #3 and one at ticket #10).

I look for the tree furniture, check the beaches for a bottle, and do certain Nook Miles tasks that I might not want to do on my own island (like chopping down trees), although if I'm really tired of island hopping sometimes I'll just check the villager and then leave.

Depends.

If I'm feeling impatient and have the NMT's to spare (or don't see anything good like say hybrids) I'll probably just leave the Island quickly if it's someone I don't want.

Though typically I try to complete my Nook Miles+ Tasks if I can while on the island so I can maybe have a few spare tickets after running out.

If it's a hybrid, money, or tarantula island, I stick around. Otherwise I leave as soon as I see the villager.

Yes, they can and it's obnoxious when they do because they'll wander in front of your net swing sometimes.

I personally just shake the trees for the furniture (and the inevitable wasp that I always get first), sweep the beach for a DIY bottle, and check the villager when island hopping. If it's someone I like, then I celebrate the end of the session by looting the whole island (woodcutting, rock hitting, weed picking etc...)

I run around and immediately shake all the trees to get my furniture, check the beach for bottles, and check the villager! I love getting recipes and furniture so I can't pass them up lol. Also, if its a special island like hybrids or tarantula then I'll get those!

I run every NMT island to the ground. I get resources even if I don’t need them and make them all into furniture to sell off at home and make some money. I feel ya, though. Sometimes when I really hate the villager I just wanna leave so fast but then I’d feel so cheated of my wasted miles so I’ll just ruin the island and get everything I could from there. Lol.

When I go island hopping, I make sure to get the furniture item from a tree, a DIY message in a bottle, and some resources while I'm there! If there's hybrids, I collect as many as I can and if there tarantulas, I'll farm em! c:

I think having a wider list help with the psychological frustration when it comes to looking for your villager. I was also frustrated last week and end up settling on one of my favorites (different from my ultimate favorite) which is a blessing in disguise because I was able to adopt a villager days after for a reasonable price.

I always get rock resources though. I don't go after lumber resources because I have abundant of trees back home, this helps lessen my time on a specific island. Also, set a number of NMT you plan to used on the day of island hopping and keep an a list of other favorites. This help you mentally. I also try other things like last week for example, I'm helping a person here to collect data for the spawn percentage of villagers by listing all the villager I met during island hopping. I also divide my NMT throughout the day like 5 in the morning, break, 5 in the afternoon, break and 5 in the evening.

If it's a special island, like it has rare fish, bugs, or hybrids, I collect the special items. Otherwise, I look along the beach for a DIY, take that (if there is one) and just leave. I wish I had remembered to shake the trees for furniture, but I forgot about that last time.

It took me 15-20 minutes to find my last villager using 14 tickets. I got a lot of new DIYs, so I felt it was worth it even though I didn't gather resources.

I take a look at the villager, leave them be if i dont like them, then start looking for bottles/furniture. If it is a hybrid, tranatula, trash, or money rock island then i wont leave right away but otherwise i just pick the fruit if they arent my natives and leave.

So, I just finished using up about 1600 NMT's over the course of about 6 days. How I did it? Don't pay attention, run in and out, Discord, K-drama, only picking up the occasional recipe bottle if it's in-screen. I ignored money islands and one of the 2 tarantula islands I saw.

I was about to give up and return tickets to friends but we just had a discord party as I screamed about finally finding him...

It really depends. I usually check the villager out and if I dont like them I leave, but if i need supplies and materials i may as well collect some while I'm searching!

I check for a DIY on the beach, and the villager. Then I go for the furniture in the tree. I then do all of the easily accessible rocks for gold. If there are easy Nook Miles+ options that would be a pain to do on my own island, I usually complete those too. Of course if it's a hybrid island I stock up as well.

When I was doing NMT repeatedly, I started out taking advantage of it, getting all the resources and stocking up on them. So I have a lot of resources that are needed for most projects: iron, wood, etc. Eventually though, once I had a ton of resources and got tired of it, I just ran onto the island, checked who the villager was, and left.
