i have pretty concrete ideas for my other alternates, but i just recently realized how irritating it's going to be to re-do everything
three.
additional.
times.

so how do you do it? do you talk to sable every day with each character? do you complete one character at a time, or do you do the daily things with all of them? do you talk to each villager with your alternate(s)? do you prefer your alternate to your mayor? house upgrades?

I don't. Only have my mayor. c:

I really don't see how people manage it though.

i was planning on only my mayor, but with my new direction with my town and my crazy lack of storage space, it changed. i suppose you're not a hoarder then LOL

Well, for awhile I only had my mayor, but then I created another character to lay paths down. Really, what I would recommend is to have just one character for awhile, and then add another, and then once that character has progressed, add another.

I created another character just in case I need more patterns someday. I stopped using her once I unlocked the QR machine.

i think i'll try this so that i don't get burned out by tediousness.

I was going to have only mayor but I changed my mind as I accumulated more items.
I only play as on alternate at a time, I've already made all of them but only because I needed the storage space.
I'm still just working on the second one but I'm almost ready to start on the third
I like to have their houses match a theme and not change much as I really don't want to play on them too much

I have the mayor (Obviously), and my house is the Fairy Tale Theme. I made another character to make 2 rooms I would've had in my original home, but it didn't go with the theme.
I only go on my other character if I need to get something, or get the mail out because that sound of the mailbox is annoying as hell.

I have all four characters will all houses paid off, the qr machine unlocked, and all the emotions.
I'm not done furnishing their homes though.

i concur, that mailbox blinking noise is irritating and yet i am still too lazy to save and quit and open it up luls

oh man, that is some dedication. i've been wondering if i should bother with the emotions, but i guess if i'm going to main street i may as well. i know for sure i want to pay off the houses ($$$$$$), and unlock the QR machine for at least one chara. it feels like it will take a lifetime. . .

I had a second character once.

Had to do away with her because she was taking up prime real estate.

R.I.P. Storage Space.

My biggest issue with having two different characters is that one ends up with more money than the other. So Zephyr, the mayor who has the pay for all of the public work projects and also to improve his house and the town, is almost broke. Meanwhile his mother Edith, the old lady who doesn't have to pay for anything, has over 13 million bells.
Next she'll paying his rent off for him. :/

that is one of my fears, i don't want my chara efforts to be a waste.

She wasn't a waste. I just wasn't- ready enough. Lol. I didn't have anything planned for her- other than to be a pack mule. I ended up just taking all of her rare stuff and getting rid of her. It's a nice way to get extra mannequins.

aaah, i didn't even think about getting extra mannequins and the like. i figure since i paid for my alternate's house already a bit, it'd be a waste of money if i got rid of him.

i have the opposite problem, i'm dropping bags for my alternate all over the place.
at least she's his mother so she's used to paying for his things keke

I just do it a character at a time. I have them all with the QR machine unlocked and fully upgraded houses, but I still need to fully furnish two houses. It's just something to do when I get to it, I guess. It took me awhile to furnish my mayor's house, let alone my first alt's house. Now I have to do two other ones with full houses, but I just take it a day at a time. I pretty much only play on my mayor, and log in with each alt maybe every week/other week, once.

My sister got the game and her character's the mayor, but then I wanted to play it, so I made an alternate character. Now that my sister doesn't play as much anymore, I took over her mayoral duties, and somehow I still manage to play on both, though, since I play on my alt more than the mayor, her house has all the rooms in it, though I am working on the mayor's rooms and PWP's.

I have 2 extra players in Town 1. House are full decorated and have mannequin, gold shovel, watering cans and golden fishing rods.
Once the mayor got all of the bugs and fish donated to the museum I added a 2nd player.
At first she became the island girl. Once the mayor was done for the day Player 2 would walk out the door and down to the dock.
Catch everything and than sell it. She paid her loan and than dropped all the rest for the mayor.
Player 3 was added for moving items. She took a quick run up to the train station to drop things in my other town.

I now just play them for holidays and birthdays. I have had them out the last few nights looking for tarantula and scorpions.
They both caught a the tarantula in the same spot.

that's quite respectable, probably more fun to play as the mayor as well because you have more things to do.

it's quite a feat to finish the bugs & fish in the museum. i feel as though i'll never accomplish it, but at least i caught myself a scorpion and a tarantula as well. my alternate just caught a tarantula like 2 minutes ago.
