For New Leaf I like the n and u shaped rivers that allow you to have some privacy for your house. With some well placed PWPs nobody will be able to move in front of you/behind you either.
I thought I liked southern waterfalls but I've seen enough DA's to fall in love with east/west waterfalls to. Another thing is a central Plaza, if I ever get a second cart a centered town plaza is a must. I hate having mine so close to the cliff wall and train station. I'd like to line villagers up close to the train tracks but it's impossible with my current map
I like a mostly straight river with two or less ponds, the beach on the right of the map, and the town hall in the center or top of the map. I couldn't care less where Re-Tail is. I'm in love with my second map, Lol. I don't think I could get a better one- and that's good, since I reset literally 60+ times for it. ._.
I reset my town a couple of days ago but I got a really good map I think!
I love the southern waterfall, how the ramp and the dock line up, the plaza is by the beach and the town hall above it...all it's missing is a little private beach because I love those too but I'm not complaining with what I have~
I like maps with the straightest rivers (which I have! <3), or "n"/"u" shaped; preferably straight. I also like the town hall and Re-Tail at the top of the map (luckily in my town, they both are and they are also near each other. )
I also like when the town tree is in the center of the map (which I also have!)! It's the heart of the town in my opinion. <3
I don't care about ponds as much as long as there aren't too many or aren't too big.
As for beaches, I prefer the big ones with big, open areas. I also really like when there is an island you have to swim to (have this too) because it's like a little secret island where I could put my hybrids in case of scammers.
My first map's layout was not preferable so I reset and basically got my dream map!
A long connected beach is a must for me, with the pirate cove at the end.
When events happen, I hate seeing something spawn on the "other" side of the beach and have to run up the ramp, over a bridge, and down another ramp to get to it (which by then it usually has despawned, or moved), which is where I started getting a must of just one long beach.
I like to have those little plots of land that have rivers on all sides but one. Like a box! I always place my house there, but I never keep a map that doesn't have at least one villager that I love.
I wouldve like to have known more about the map before i started playing because i hate mine. I like having wide open space, i don't like it when the river is running diagonally through everything. Konoe's map is beautiful, i wouldve liked a ton of space behind my house.
I'm not really sure, I just booted up my game and started playing when I got it, not thinking about resetting for a map.
I must say it turned out pretty good.
Marzipan was a breath of fresh air after hours upon hours of map resetting. Cherries for fruit, no hidden beach, southern waterfall, a large cliff area where I can do front yard landscaping, plots lined up, 3 desired residents as starters in perfect places
Im really happy with my current map. It has a southern waterfall, town plaza isn't crammed against the side, town hall is close to the top, and the river is a clean zig-zag shape. The only things i really look for is a southern waterfall, central town plaza, a clean river and i dislike really thin areas of land. Overall though, im learning to be less picky about maps, as its really all about how you landscape it. All the towns i like have very different maps, and they all look great.
I like rivers that flow across the map, 1 or 2 ponds, & as few rocks as possible. I need the town hall & ReTail above the river, but the plaza can be below it. I really like it if the river creates a thin strip of land at the top of the town on either the right or the left, just wide enough for my house, but no one else can live there. My current town has none of these features, except for the town hall & ReTail placement, but somehow it works for me & I love it. I'll probably reset my town at the end of this year & try to get as many of these features as I can. This is a very early picture of my current town Toretto, so many things have changed. Villager placement, PWPs & landscaping have helped it along.
