by this, i mean, do you have all of them living together in one space like a neighbourhood, or do you have them randomly or semi-randomly around your island? which format do you like best?

personally, i think it's nice to move my villagers where they would like best. tangy and toby live together since they hang out a lot, zucker lives off in the forest, and coco lives on the beach by the entrance to my island! i love decorating with stuff they'd have in the yard heheh

Mine are semi randomly scattered around and I do like to decorate and give them a yard. I have had ran the last couple of days so I have flowers everywhere that I’m working on cleaning up. I don’t have any particular island theme but I do have little areas around my island that are themed…

The way I see my island is I have 3 housing districts where the houses are lined up in their own mini communities.

One of them is south west (3 villagers), one of them is south east near my airport(3 villagers), and the other is north west (4 villagers).

Personally I'm not a fan of having houses scattered around as I like layouts that are easy to navigate and are organised. But im also not a fan of having just 1 area of houses as I like having a reason to visit every inch of my island.

I think by making 3 housing areas I achieved both goals for myself :)

Mine are all scattered except Boris and Tucker who live right next to each other lol

I have four houses on the left side of my island. Two are located north of the plaza, though I may eventually move them. That area is based on an area in a game though I had to move two houses due to a project I started on the cliff above. The rest of the houses are set up like a neighborhood around my resident services center. No room for yards though, which I kinda regret.

Well right now mine are all on the beach because I need them out of the way while I terraform my island. Eventually the plan is to scatter them around and give them nice outdoor areas fitting for their personality. I don’t think I would enjoy one big neighbourhood. I prefer my island to be more natural and whimsical.

They are all over the place.

My island has a natural, rustic sort of vibe. Because I lack terraforming skills. Villager houses are in groups of 2 and 3 around the island. In the northeast, we have Lolly, Lucky and Wendy. Claude and Sprocket are in the east and Wolfgang, Joey and Fuchsia are in the southwest. Raymond and Marshal live in the southeast without next door neighbours. (Smugs like their space. 😅 ) When there are several and separate neighbourhoods, it's motivation for me to visit different parts of the island since, wherever I go, I can meet an islander outside for a quick chat or visit their home. Most of the time though, they congregate at the plaza, which I also visit every day. Today I found Lucky and Sprocket zooming around like little kids on a sugar high. 😁

they're all pretty close together but not really in a neighborhood style. i couldn't decide between having them really spread out or next to one another so it's a good middle ground tbh. the only villager that's really alone is freya but she has a pond + waterfall to make up for it :)

My villager's homes are set up in a line down the east side of my island, most of them have been placed in pairs other then a couple at the southern end of the island which are in single file as I couldn't fit them next to each other due to the shops been in the way. They are also all on ground level other then the two most northern ones, belonging to Sherb and Diana, which are on a terraformed area so they have a little section to themselves. Each home has it's own yard decorated with flowers and furniture items that I think suit the villager to make the area more homely.

On my main island the houses are two two neighborhoods of four and one of two . I might change them around soon. Some of them have bigger yards then others.

Jurai is more organized. The house are in a neighborhood and the yards are the same size.

My villagers in Serenity seem to wonder more in Serenity then in Jurai. In Jurai they spend most of their time in the neighborhood.

I haven’t decided yet but I will probably have them scattered in 2s and 3s in clusters. Maybe one can be a hermit. Or my neighbour. I kinda like needing to walk around the whole island to visit them. But tbh I might change my mind once I start terraforming!

mine are in a large neighborhood sort of. their houses arent right next to each other, but they arent too far. sometimes i wish they were scattered around the island but i dont want to redesign anything. plus its kind of nice to be able to visit your villagers in one area, and they talk to each other a lot

I have a cluster of 4 on the left side of map, a cluster of 3 in the right side of map (Coles house on the beach was moved recently to the top area on the right side of map.

Then I have Avery all by himself on the right, Curt all by himself at the south area, and Raddle in the middle area next to one of my characters house.
The cluster of 4 have the smallest yards, the cluster of 3 have slightly bigger than the cluster of four. Curt and Avery have the largest yards. They whole beach is their backyard. Raddle’s yard is the same size as the cluster of four.

I used to have them all together, but I found that this works better.

They’re all in a neighborhood. They all have their own yards. All of their yards look somewhat the same, and some of them share a yard.

I usually have two neighborhoods split 4/6 or 5/5.I never put villagers on the upper deck of the island....I'm too lazy to climb up there.

Mine are gonna be paired off with their partner, on the outer side of my island

Always a priority of mine, to have all the boys postioned with each other.
