How do you guys deal with Villager Category Bloat?

So I?m currently I a bind about some of my villagers?? I?m probably nit picking because once you get the right villagers you need to find something else that?s slightly off??.

I feel like there are too many villagers I love in the Lazy category. I have 3 lazy villagers (Beau, Stitches and Papi) and would have actually liked a fourth (Erik) but it?s nagging me that my town isn?t as diverse because of it. It also kind of grinds my gears when I hear them utter the exact same lines in the same day. I have double smugs in Marshal and Julian but their expressions are so different that they still feel like different villagers. It also kind of bugged me with Normals when I heard Poppy say something and thought ?Oh that?s so cute?, but then Merengue said the exact same line when I walked a few meters??????

So do you have any bloated categories for favorites? It seems like Lazy and Normal have all the villagers I love. I really forced my to have no more than 2 normal villagers even though it ripped my heart out saying good by to Skye?? With the lazies I feel like I have the same villager copy pasted 3 times. But I love those 3 too much to let them go. How do you guys handle it when you have so many villagers from one category? Do you just not notice it, not worry about it? Has anyone had to make hard cuts in the name of diversification?

I had 4 normals in my town, narrowed it down to 2 then ended up grabbing another. my new town only have 2. I love the normals but they repeat too mcuh

what I did was write down all the villagers I wanted and also including their personality. from there I tried to pick which ones I really wanted the most. though it may be different for you. are you trying to get certain pwps? if that's not a problem I don't see why having villagers of the same personality is bad except how repetitive they are.

Yeah I found snooties to be not bad as well. They have alot of dialogue of varying emotions an listening to Diana refer to "Chic Deer Monthly" and Freya "Chic Wolf Monthly" is kind of funny. I also imagine snooties would all act similar since they all read the latest fashion magazines and try to act with whatever is in style at the time.

I did initially have a “Top 10” all mapped out on a spreadsheet, but as you see some vilagers in person some fail to impress, some look better on the screen so things change. Problem is there are no Peppy or Jock villagers that I would want over my current 10, and the balance was thrown out when I lost Fang to the great move out disaster of Sept 2014 \sob……. That’s kind of where Papi’s spot came from. There isn’t really another cranky I feel can compete with my current 10 and having so many villagers I like I wouldn’t want to go through cycling 13 more villagers out to be able to get Fang back………..

I really really love peppies and crankies, but I wanted to have all personalities in my main town so I restricted myself ^^;
I looked at all personalities and decided which villager I like the best for each personality.

Though now that I have a second town, nothing can stop me from having five peppies and five crankies, mwahaha. I actually don't find the same personalities redundant at all :p

When I have a "newbie" ask me the best way to set up, THIS is exactly the advice I give them. Pick your dreamies from the personality types...not just appearance (NOR species...) Makes a HUGE difference in play diversity and also in PWPs!!

Which peppies and crankies were your favorite? I always feel like maybe there are some I should have explored more closely.

Depends on the personality! Normals, Lazies and Jocks are very redundant...and it is way more noticeable when you have more than 1! (same "sentences", different "subject") ie: Lolly: "I was just about to write a story about a pen. How are you?"...3 min later...Fauna: "I was just about to paint a picture about a table. How are you?"

True story.

Peppy: TANGY!! Hands down! (and I have Rosie, too!) Tangy has FAR exceeded my expectations! Peppies...sigh...you only need one, in my opinion...but they are SUPER fun!
Cranky: Wolves...any of them. They don't "look" cranky. I had Wolfgang, who was a big ole softy. Now I have Fang, and I haven't "cracked" him yet...lol...But I just love him! Crankies are fun!

DON'T leave out an Uchi! They have the coolest personality and seem to always have your back. I have had the same Uchi from day 1...and if she leaves me, I. WILL. QUIT. really. (My bestie, Mira)

BTW, visit lots of dream towns OR if you decide on a set of peeps you really want, post a thread asking to "meet" them. People will be happy to show off their brood!

@TheRaven: My favourite peppies are Penelope, Anicotti, Felicity, Bunnie, and Bluebear. And for crankies I like Fang, Elvis, Apollo, Bruce, and Tom. They're all currently reside in my second town hahah xD
You should give them a try if you have space, those personalities are so fun to talk to

@aleshapie: Ahh that's correct, I almost forgot that one time I have three lazies in my town. Gosh their dialogue bore me so much xD It's always about food and sleeping hahah. Normal is more bearable though, since they're all so adorable!

Suggestion

Suggestion for Town with 10 Villagers

1. Cranky
2. Snooty
3. Lazy
4. Normal
5. Jock
6. Peppy
7. Smug
8. Uchi
9. [Repeat Personality]
10. [Repeat Personality]

If you love one Villager Personality, above all others, having up to three will allow you to still be able to slot the other types. So, it's probably not regrettable.

I have a lot of peppies, normals and lazies but I only notice repeated dialogue during the holiday events like Toy Day.If I have multiples of the same personality in one town,I try to put their houses in different parts of the town.I had Ozzie,Joey and Beau all living near each other at one time and I really noticed the same dialogue being repeated then.

I LOVE the normal villagers! I used to care about having one of each villager personality in my town but now I just want to pick my favourites, regardless of their personality.

Well, I never ever meant for this to happen, but I have Lucha Curlos and Lopez all in one, and it ticks me off how the majority of the personalities were just smug... I used to have Erik, but then he moved to my bro's town (T.T) so now i only have simon as my lazy one.

I'm pretty much a mix when it comes to personalities but the most personalities I have in my town are peppies.

Now, personalities aren't a problem to me right now because there aren't that many villagers for each personality that i'm crazy about. (Except for Smug but whatever) Having 4 rabbit dreamies is the problem here cause i'm not giving a chance to try out other villagers for a change.
I sorta wish I could have different species but I just can't let them go, I love most of the rabbits in this game and the 4 in my signature are my favorites of all.

Well it`s okay for me to have more of the same villager personality in my town. I have 3 snooty and 2 normal animals and every other personality, but sadly no cranky at the moment. That is ,because I invited a snooty camper to my town. It just happened over time. And it doesn`t feel so repetitive because I still have diversity in my town:)

Honestly I never paid much attention to what category my villagers are in, though at one time I did have 3 jock villagers. The only time I considered type is because I want the pwps the uchi villagers suggest, so I'm hoping to get an uchi villager after I get my next move out.

If the day comes when I get all my dreamies, I'll have a town full of normal and lazy villagers.

And one grumpy type. Hamphrey has really grown on me.

Now I just need to get Aurora and Flurry and I'll have all my dreamies.
