How do you get rid of villagers?

All my villagers are terrible xD Do i just gotta wait for them to say they want to leave? I was trying to unlock the plots so I was inviting everyone left, right and centre.

Ignore them and if your community center is open you can talk to Isabel.

Do you have to actually talk to them and get the "im leaving" conversation in this? Or do they just go, do i HAVE to ignore them 100% or it won't work?

That has never been true. At least in past games. Nor does hitting them with nets or shovels. It’s totally random. Your friendship level doesn’t affect it either. I’ve had animals I was best friends with in past games that tried to move as often as the ones I didn’t talk to as much.

Yea i heard about that, i don't have any amiibo unfortunately. Guess i gotta just wait and hope for the best or maybe max out my villagers as quick as possible and then theyll start saying it like they used to (thats probably it actually)

Forcing a villager out and then having someone come invite them to their island is what's messing it up and causing the glitch. If you tell them to move out via amiibo and they just go to the void there's no glitch!

I wonder if they can still “hitch a ride” and travel to someone else’s island that way. They move out, have nowhere to go, and when someone visits, the “ghost” of the animal follows them back, and if they have a free spot, they move in.

hi! from my experience with NH, I have been able to successfully move out two villagers by ignoring them while still interacting with everyone else. also, they won't move out until they tell you. you can tell when you should speak to them about moving out when they suddenly thinking with a thought bubble on the top of their head. they will move out the next day after telling you. hope this helps!
