How do you get a villager to move in to your town?

I made a mistake. I time traveled to 5 months in the future in ACNL, and had a letter from my favorite character in the mailbox. I opened it, thinking it was a reply to a letter I have preiviously given him. Found out he moved, making me very upset

I want him to move back in. someone help please?

If I'm correct there is something called the "16 Villager Cycle" in where you cannot get a same villager back into your town until 16 others have moved in and out. Also, I don't think there's a way to bring back that particular villager from your void unless you made friends with someone, got lucky and they got him from the void, and then they saved that villager for however long it took for the cycle to complete.

Moral of the story is NEVER time travel more than 1 week at a time and talk to your villagers each time you do. I'm really sorry to hear that you lost this villager of yours.

If you have the villagers amiibo card, you can bypass the 16 villager cycle. If not then you must go through the cycle.

Also, if you cycle through, the villager won't remember like they did in Wild World.
