How do you find a tarantula?

I read how to catch it, but how do you FIND it? I never ran across one. And how do you know it is one?

OMG I LOVE MOE! And to find a tarantula, you must be in the month of June, July or August. Walk around your town after 8:00pm, watch the ground for a Black creature, it's small and looks like a big black spider...

Yes, I had no idea Moe existed until he moved in but he is my favorite now.

The best thing is just to go about your daily routine. Carry either the fishing rod or the water can. The only tool in your pocket should be the net. Put all the other tools in your letters or in your house.

Having some open spots helps. I removed some flowers/trees where I saw one spawn. Left a few flowers and put the rest on the beach.

Times I caught them were when a villager ping me. One was walking behind us. Another I was fishing and it walked behind me.
Another was deliver a item to a villagers. Came outside and a tarantula was there.

The best time was summer solstice but fireworks is another good one. The only thing you'll have to deal with the scorpion too.
Caught a tarantula and a scorpion on the third fireworks show in two towns.

Simple response: Patience and skill. Literally. Tarantula is one the hardest bugs to catch in the game. It will only spawn during summer at night.
