personally I still love the game though I play it way less than before, also I've made a terrible mistake that I still beat myself over....
I used to have all of the house town and house upgrades (4 houses) and all of the orderable furniture sets, a few unorderable furniture sets and a bunch of the other unorderable and dlc items, I also had perfect town status. hell, I even completed my fossil collection for the museum.. but for some reason I was just not happy with my town at all so I decided to giveaway all of my stuff and restart my game and I kind of regret it. I actually like my new town and all but I feel really late now that the game is old now and less people still play it because right now it just feels much harder to repeat the achievements from my previous town because there are way less shops and offers for items and furniture these days. I'm struggling to get stuff that were rather much easier to get before...I don't know if it's just me, maybe I'm just unlucky I don't know.
(pardon my rather cringe worthy commenting skills, my English is mostly self taught...)

I still love it, maybe even more than before ever since I've restarted my town and took a different approach altogether. It's really fun for me now.

I'm curious, what different approach did you take? :)

I actually like restarting, but I know how you feel. Some people buy a second, third or even fourth cartridge because they don't want to lose what they've worked on. I did like you and made "the big jump", but I'm also trying to play the game a different way. I feel like the people who are still playing today try to focus on different things, like customizing their town, getting dream villagers or simply relaxing in their town.

I definitely know what you mean by the lack of shops nowadays. Last year is when I attacked those shops and bought so many things. Now, it is hard to find shops that have all the DLC or unorderable sets. It really sucks.

I still love the game, but I just can't get myself into it as much as I used to. I think I get turned off by how my town doesn't really have much yet where I restarted a few months back. It just seems like every time I reset I get a little less invested in the game. That's why I'm hoping they'll announce another maybe in the next couple years, because that will definitely get me back into the series.

Well, it's hard to explain. But in my old town, I had it since the release, so it was sort of... random. Permanent PWPs were placed in spots I didn't like, etc. Truth is, I am a huge perfectionist. Over time, I also got too invested into making sure my dreamies don't move out and the game just became stressful. Also, my lockers were full and stuff, and it was just an annoying mess. I loved my old town, I really did, but there were many things that bothered me, but most of all what ultimately made me reset was the fact I made my old mayor with a gender other than my own, and it started to really bug me, because I like my AC charas to be self inserts.

When I reset, I took my sweet time. I borrowed my IRL friend's ACNL game and I dumped around 300 items that I valued the most + nearly 200 hybrids in her town, then kept resetting for a day before I had just the sweet map I like. Unlike with my previous town, I planned my landscaping more consciously and made it so I love my town and it's meant to be loved by me, not necessarily fitting what's cool. I also dropped the concept of keeping the same 10 villagers, because with that the game becomes stale and we just stress out about villagers moving out. Sure, I have a few I won't let go, but I want to leave 1-2 slots as a wild card so I can have more fun with the game and experience different villagers. Previously, I got too caught up with collecting top tier villagers after I've discovered the fandom. I mean, I did genuinely like their designs, but I couldn't get attached to them. So my town was overrun with pretty animals, but it wasn't that fun somehow.

So basically, it's more chill now. And I have a town whose appearance is all carefully planned and I love it. Plus, I've finally started utilising multiplayer for more than trades and regularly play with a friend, which changes the whole experience. We either hang out and do silly stuff like grabbing a timer in-game and playing hide and seek with each other (trust me, it's actually pretty damn intense if we set it at 5 minutes and my town resembles a damn jungle) or do tours on the island to farm medals, share fossils with each other, etc. Just plain things, but they really make the game full of joy.

As for buying an another copy of the game, yeah, I feel you. I even thought about it, but I don't have the money + I am not really the kind of person to like having doubles of anything. And in the end, I decided, my old town bothers me so much despite me loving it that I am not playing the game at all, so what is it worth? It will be better to start anew and actually make use of the game.

I still enjoy the game! To be honest, I didn't get to play much for the first year and a half after release because I was either too busy resetting trying to get a perfect map or distracted with something else, so it's still like I'm just now playing for real. I used to buy furniture a lot on another forum & through Tumblr, but I haven't found as much as I did back then, either.

I play more now than when I first got it :D I love the game and only love it more as my town progresses (I've had the same one for over 2 years now). I have all 10 of my dreamies and my town's landscaping is coming along really well, though I always end up changing things up after a few months. I feel like changing my town up every so often is part of what helps to keep me interested. I also like having four characters to earn badges on. And speaking of badges, I'm 5 away from having every badge on my mayor :'D

I still love this game. When I complete my museum and stuff I usually restart. That always starts my addiction again.

i still love it, it's nice to play to relax before bed. i haven't played that much in the past month or so though, i still check daily to make sure a villager doesn't move and that's about it. i'm in between holidays rn so there isn't much going on in my town.

I still love this game, but the people I know irl stopped playing 'cause they got bored of it. :/
I'm the only here who still plays it daily. lol... I took a long hiatus a few months, but then my interest got renewed and then.... I wanted to finally do something with my town, and now.... I play everyday whenever I can. xD

I still adore ACNL and am planning to get a fourth copy, prob won't go further than that. Nowadays I only play to make my towns look good and freeze the ones I'm done with, which is unfortunate, but I don't forget about them or anything. Also I don't miss playing legit since I literally played ACNL, my first ac game, legit for like a month and got bored, so I don't have any great background of playing ACNL legit. I would have played AC for about 30h max if I had played legit but right now I'm at over 2400h, so ye no regrets. Imo ACNL has way too little daily content for me to simply play through one ac day in one irl day.
Recently my opinion has deteriorated a little bit, but that has to do with my 3rd town being a pain in the ass.

I think I'm more obsessed with my town now than ever been! I still play every day for at least one hour - usually much, much more, especially since I've been remodeling my town and working on PWPs and landscaping every single day. I'm getting closer to getting all my dreamies, too, which I've never done before. And I'm only 9 portraits away from completing my museum! It's so exciting and I'm very proud of it, especially since I haven't traded with anyone. I've gotten everything all on my own :)

I still occasionally play it when I'm really bored, and I do still enjoy it! I think it just lost its appeal to me, since I've sorta felt and done everything that I could experience, and I don't want to reset and lose a lot of stuff, so I don't really know where to go next. Also, I can agree, when I first joined TBT there were so many shops selling in-game stuff, and now they're rare. It's kinda sad... but I guess it's just something you can't control.

I completely lost interest last year, didn't play at all for over 6 months. I restarted my town last week and I'm enjoying it all over again :D

I am definitely playing a lot more since having to get a new copy of the game, but I was definitely disappointed in the same that I had lost all of my achievements and things from my first town. I was basically bored with my old town (I had the game since its release) and didn't play much though after having all the house upgrades. the island, and most of the shops and public work projects finished, there wasn't much to do other than try and get the rest of my encyclopedia done, which it almost was except for all the rarer things.

I think though in terms of things such as collection, it's coming along much better than the first copy, with more bugs and fish in my encyclopedia than before. I'll miss my old town, but I'm making something of this new one and I'm slowly getting back into the game just as I had on the first day of release.

I still love the game and started on June 14,2013. This is the longest I've played an AC game. The main town mayor received her last badge a week ago. Last night I caught two of my favorite villagers talking and it was a new conversation. It made me laugh. The main town got all the shops unlocked without tting.

I have other towns. Two are frozen right now while I work on things in my guest town. I'm stuck right now with one of the towns that is frozen. I love the flowers and trees but not sure what to do with the PWP. I've moved the flower clock 5 times and the date keeps changing each time it gets moved so I stopped. I also started a new town that just grows weeds. The players were going to stay in tent but I decided to give them houses and TTed to get Gracie and other things unlocked.
It's a chill town where I just have the Caf? for visitors. If I feel like it the players talk to the villagers or just open the gates so my other towns can use the island or go to Club LOL. Find it relaxing and don't have to worry about villagers leaving. The town has the first boy mayor and love it. It fun to relax after playing my main/guest town.

I love the game, although I wish I made Hearts more organized... Sea Cove it alright. I quit for a few months and wholly regret it, I miss Marshal so much ;-;

I find it nostalgic already, I love and adore the game! I play it almost everyday however, for only about 30mins. Then I set it down so my town tree can grow.
