Pokémon How do you feel about ORAS?

Personally, I really enjoyed it. I wasn't really disappointed since I expected that there wouldn't be much changes, since it is just a remake after all. Sapphire was my first Pokemon game and one of my favorites, and it was the game that made me a Pokemon fan. I really enjoyed it as a kid, so just getting a remake of it with better (modern style) graphics is enough for me lol  Though I agree, the lack of customization is really sad :-\

I was considering buying Alpha Sapphire until I went through this thread. Now I'm not so sure.

Is it because of the lack of trainer customization? I've gotta be brutally honest, what's so good about it or makes it memorable?

Hoenn isn't a region about fashion, It's about Pirates wanting to surf on a KyOGRE and nerds wanting to play on the beach with a Dinosaur, don't you even get me started about how Hoenn wouldn't be perfect if Wallace didn't have such a firm ass.

I'm glad they kept it vanilla, original fans should be happy about that too.

I personally enjoyed it. I grew up with Gen 3 and every copy of a Gen 3 game my family owns is lost. 2 Rubies, 1 Emerald and 1 Sapphire are all missing, so this was a really nice experience for me. No character customization didn't really bother me that much, because it was kind of a minor thing. Sure, it was nice, but it wasn't amazing or something that I'd be begging for in future games.

I enjoyed Pokemon X/Y and Pokemon ORAS.

I guess I'm too stupid to dislike one or the other. I didn't compare them to each other and until people started making a big deal out of them. I enjoyed both and had memorable experiences with them.

Even though I'm not "new" to the main series, you could definitely say I'm still a novice at the games' tactics. I've played about 6 games so far and I have to say, ORAS is definitely high up there. The only games I've technically completed are Platinum and White, and I still have yet to complete SoulSilver, White 2, Y, and the rest of Alpha Sapphire. For some reason I got rid of my old White game and gave it to a friend, but about a year and a half ago I re-bought the game so I could play through again. It's definitely one of my favorite Pok?mon games, and it sort of kept me going after playing my first game in the series, Platinum...oh, how mistaken was I to choose that as my first game D:

But yeah, I can't judge the other games in the series until I finally complete them. I've been sort of slow with playthrough progress due to how busy I am, but hopefully I'll get some free time to finally complete the games.

I actually really love ORAS, the introduction of the mirage islands/caves/mountains and being able to ride round on a Lati was really cool. Although I personally like the X/Y series better, as the pokemon were more varied but that made getting the oval charm faster. The one thing I love tHE MOST about the ORAS games is the battle resort. It makes breeding super fast and easy with the rotating camera angles. The only thing I would really say I dislike about them is the textures. The rocky mountainous one I think is too orange-y and there isn't enough variety. Overall, these games re fantastic but could use a few tweaks here and there. I'd totally recommend it to a friend :)

If I wanted to play pokemon in the hoenn region just like what was there in R/S/E, then I would play R/S/E. I hated how ORAS is just a 3DS version of RSE, and a lot of fans say the same.

Gamefreak could've mixed in some of the XY features into the game so that it has something that makes it stand out from the originals. The character customization was pretty nice so that you could see players when battling as something other than the gym leaders or ace trainers.

The color customization was nice so that people could play as whatever their nationality was. However even XY had only 3 skin tones: pale, somewhat tanned and brown. Lots of players hoped that the black race would be present in the next games, but instead they removed everything.

xD Sorry about that. It's just that, well, some people (like me) felt kind of disappointed in it because of the hype. Also when it came out people shelled out 50 bucks for it and this games isn't worth that much. It's a good game, sure, but the price most of us paid for it was too much.

If you really, really like good graphics and the hoenn region then you should get it. It's probably cheaper now.

I feel like I'm the only one that thinks Nintendo has been going over board and just loading these new Pokemon games FULL of dialog. There's SO MUCH DIALOG in these new games, it's crazy. There's soooo much reading to do. I'm not necessarily saying it's bad, but it's just so different from the older games. There was so much dialog in all the cutscenes in ORAS.

But that being said, I really loved Emerald as a kid. I logged over 300 hours on that game and it was my pride and joy. When I got Pokemon X, I played through it, deleted my file and did it all again and did more than I did the first time. I enjoyed it. But when I started ORAS, I just kinda beat the game and set it down. I disliked how simple it was to get the legendaries. I don't have all of them, but most of the requirements were really easy to meet by the time I beat the Elite Four.

I'm not sure what it was about ORAS that didn't keep me playing. I guess it felt like I was pretty much done after I beat the Elite Four and caught a few legendaries.

I just think that it failed to immerse the player...

I dunno, I personally really enjoyed it.
I've come to terms with the fact perserveing Pokemon isn't something Nintendo really wants to do. Therefore, I've turned to finding ways to enjoy everything they've come up with as of late. Therefore, with ORAS, I really enjoyed the new features they've put in. The sneaking, the apps, the finding of new pokemon... It was all really cool and super convenient.
I also absolutely loved the character development that they put into Maxie and Archie. They've always been my favourite villains, so to see them so fleshed out made me smile!

Tbh, I rushed through the game. I believe I was more invested and hype in X/Y compared to ORAS. Maybe becausee I miss the character's customization. But it wasn't boring, I really did like the elite four room scenes and even the new mega stones. I just wasn't as EXCITED as I was for x/y. Haha I even did the countdown for x and y, couldn't wait.

I agree. I thought ORAS would be an upgrade to the gen 3 games, but it was just literally a remake with a few alterations.

I don't understand why they tied us to deciding only between two different characters, as opposed to the huge character customisation in XY. It feels like we took a step forward and now with ORAS we've taken a BIG step back.

I really enjoyed the remakes, but it was exactly that reason why I was left feeling disappointed. They were purely remakes.
It would have been nice to see something like Black and White's sequel, something where there had been several years since the original games. (Another reason why Gen 5 was the BEST.)

here's to hoping that there's no stupid "Pokemon Z" and that we instead get the long-waited remake for Kanto, because that's what we truly want.

Pokemon Z would be terrible ugh
Everyone thought there would be a pokemon grey but it didn't happen so hopefully pokemon z doesn't come out. That would be terrible.
I think they'll make a new gen or remake sinnoh, since gen 1 has already been remade, sure it was a long time ago but if it's remade then it'll be the 3rd remake of kanto.

I haven't even beaten the game yet and I've had it since the first week of release. I need to get back into it

Ugh, pokemon grey... even worse

Hopefully a new gen. I have a feeling that whatever follows kalos will be a success (because its worse than sinnoh, and that's bad..)

You'd think Sinnoh would be the next one to receive a remake, but it won't, because it's still accessible. They make remakes for pokemon games which aren't accessible w/ the 3ds, and the only generation that isn't playable on the DS/3DS is generation 1.
