Lately all I see is tokyo towns, forest towns, and some type of mix of both. People get inspo off eachother and theres nothing wrong with that. Just that it created an accidental new ac style culture. Just like in art.
I think they’re pretty! I like them and enjoy drawing some inspiration from them. I mean, it’s their island and they can do whatever they want. There does seem to be a shared theme between them where they all kinda copy off of each other and create a “pink and white” theme with all popular villagers but honestly? Who cares, it’s their island and it’s still a valid way of playing.
I try to do my own thing as much as I can, but I also get a lot of inspiration from what people are posting online. Sometimes I see some things I didn’t even know were possible to do, so I’m thankful for that!
I do kind of find it a little boring when all the islands have the same animals, but really when you think about it, the pool of aesthetically pleasing animals is pretty small in the game.
One thing I kind of don’t like though is that quickly working towards a “insta-island” seems to be the new way to play Animal Crossing for a lot of people.
For example I have a friend who is new to the series, and New Horizons is her first game. She seems to be innocently under the impression that collecting the most popular villagers and making your island look like the most popular ones is the point of the game. She’s time traveled to do all that, and is now getting bored, feeling like she beat the game already.
Slowly making an island that you live in, while getting to know many different animal neighbors, over the course of a year or more, are things that never even crossed her mind.
I enjoy visiting these islands, because most of them are beautiful, and their creators put a lot of work into them. Personally, I don't really want a super duper developed town. There are a few "developed" areas, and I want the rest to be pretty natural. So for me, I don't compare, but I enjoy them for what they are and I enjoy my island for what it is. (And sometimes I steal an idea or two to make work for my island...aka a turnip garden )
haha the name is very good!
Honestly it's not my personal aesthetic, the white wood paths and the glither and the hearts, not my thing. I prefer a more rustic overgrown vibe. Although everytime I visit an island with this look I am always impressed. They are incredible ~in person~
i like them! i think people should be allowed to decorate their islands however they want - whether it’s a more rural type setting or a populated city, people can do whatever makes them happy with their islands ^^
I think a lot of them are really impressive, even if the aesthetic isn't what I like. I actually think they're a great resource for finding custom patterns to use on my own island.
Personally, I don't measure myself against them--I'm happy with my island and the way it's developing. AC isn't a competition.
Although I do find it a bit... sad when I see negative comments, though. Like, there's nothing wrong with liking a certain style and the most popular villagers, y'know?
I like them! I like seeing the range of what players can do. Sometimes I do see islands that appear... unplayable to me (where do these people pop balloons) but that's okay its thier island. Not mine. I get inspiration from them.
I know it gets...tiring seeing Judy Raymond Audie Marshal ect. But for tours does it matter? I dont talk to other peoples villagers.
I think overall its beautiful and I cant wait for a dream suite. It only makes me sad some players find there island less than or get upset because they arent there. Aesthetic towns arent right for everyone. And there's degrees to how you can play.
I want my town to look nice but I want it to be playable as well.
