How do you determine who your dreamies are?

I look at the list of villagers available in each personality and I create a list of my own with villagers I'd like to have. I choose one from all eight available personalities and then I repeat one male and one female depending on who shows up first out of that list.

a lot of my dreamies were determined from villagers that i had and loved in new leaf but others such as zucker and kid cat were determined after new horizons came out as i had them and grew attached to them. audie, on the other hand, was determined since i think she’s absolutely gorgeous and i love the meaning behind her existence ;u;

Typically by looks! But sometimes I don't always jive with them. In New Leaf I had Merengue and Tia and didn't love them as much as I thought I would.

Alice was my first ever villager in Wild World so she has a special place in my heart.

In New Leaf I fell in love with a bunch that I wasn't expecting to - Cousteau, Hamphrey, and my NL baby Gayle .

Two dreamies in NH that hold up for me are Marshal and Fauna. And my current surprise baby is Skye - I know a lot of people love her but she was never on my list (and now she's never leaving)!

I first pick my ult dreamies (meaning dreamies I must have on my island)...
Afterwards, I'll be picking villagers I like from each personality (cuz I like having all personalities on my island lol)...
Then, what I do next is to again pick from those villagers and choose the villagers that'll fit the theme of my island the most (or sometimes just the ones I like better in general)...
Then that's basically all the process I do lol...
I usually have more than one dreamie for each personality as I'm really not that picky so I have a lot of leeway in terms of my dreamies, like whoever I encounter first then they'll be the on I'll be having on my island lol...
