How do you deal with path borders?

I've noticed that the paths available from terraforming don't completely fill the sides of the grid. In my opinion, it looks a little off... like the paths are skinnier than they should be. I was wondering, what have you done to spice up your paths?

I think they look nice when they're lined with things, like flowers or fences

I use a lot of two tile wide paths. They look the best to me. Of course, the borders they have don't bother me at all. I've used them to my advantage to make checkerboard diagonal paths that look nice to me.
