How do you change a villager's clothes?

So yesterday I caught Agent S giving Stitches a No. 2 Tee and he looks horrible in it. I reported his clothes to Isabelle like I would always do and then I sent him a Star Tee in the mail.. This time though he didn't even change his clothes.. Then today he wants me to give Cube a present. Turns out the present was a ugly MVP tee and what does Cube do? He puts it right on in front of me . Then he asks how it looks and I chose "It looks kinda lame" and then he just said he doesn't care he'll grow into it.. Ugh.. It's like both of my lazy villagers are teaming up to wear clothes I don't like (Well the No. 2 Tee does look good on Agent S). Any suggestions on how I'm gonna get these little 2 rascals to change their clothes?

EDIT: oh yeah same problem with Mira and Vic.

Send them 3-5 same clothes in mail and they will change =D the most they will only put 1-2 extra in their house~

or just try sending 1 first, haha... on thonky there are lists of birthday presents they like, but those work outside their birthdays too. favorite style + color = shirt they like which they will put on more likely (i think... i've tried it only a few times and it worked better than just random shirts, but i cannot say that it works better for sure)

Nah. Just make them wear anything you like~those only works on their birthday plus they won't even wear it LOL I end up buying back their birthday present days later x.x my cutie Katt is wearing Gracie's ladybug shirt now =D so cute <333

if they have a custom design from able sisters, then report them to isabelle. this will reset their clothes. i hate mailing clothes because they put it in their house and it ruins it, i like keeping their house original

edit: it doesn't reset their clothes to default, but to another shirt. for stitches he wore the ugly gym shirt

well, kabuki often tells that he really likes his shirt because it's historical and that's also his favorite style in the birthday presents list so... i think they really like that style year round too!

He does, I forgot to take down one of the Stock Designs and Vic started wearing the "Shirt" one.. My god.. I sent him some armor shirts and he didn't put on a single one.

I fill my inventory with the same shirt I want them to wear and keep talking to them until they want to buy/trade for the shirt.
I also mail them clothing too.
