I've seen a lot of speculation about this and I've heard because of the dupe glitch.. so did people replicate nmts with the dupe glitch or was that impossible to do? And if so then how do people get so many tickets I just still dont get it

You can't duplicate NMTs. However, you can hack them in, which is what people who are not from this site are doing and selling them online for real money. There's a chance some of those hacked NMTs have ended up on these forums.

However, its mostly just people have gathered huge quantities of them from only trading with them. Now inflation has kicked in. Though, the duping glitch did impact this a bit as well, since people were buying NMTs for in-game Bells for huge amounts the first week.

I also get NMTs as tips and things like that when people come to my island. In a few days, I had several different people leave them as tips and ended up with 10 without any work at all. Plus, it's not really hard to earn Nook Miles IMO, so its easy to just farm them if you work at it.

Unable to comment on the dupe glitch, but there are loads of NMT (and Raymond bundles lol) for sale in, say, eBay. For those who prefer not spending their game time grinding, it seems like a sensible solution. Buy a couple of them, and you can freely island hop all you want, or get your desired villagers much sooner.

I have a method where I got 30 NMT within an hour or two by myself. Time travel is required, but here is my method:
1. TT to January 1st.

2. Go to the ATM and get your 500 free nook miles. Because it was closed yesterday, you automatically get the 7+ day bonus for tomorrow (January 2nd).

3. Do any easy nook miles tasks that you have, such as: take a screenshot, talk to your villagers, change your clothes, hit a rock, chop wood, sell fruit, sell 5k worth of items, buy 5k worth of items.

4. Once done with the tasks, proceed to January 2nd.

5. Visit the ATM to get your 300 nook miles bonus.

6. Repeat step 3: do easy nook miles tasks.

7. Once done with the easy tasks, TT back to January 1st. You're now at step 1, and you repeat all previous steps.

I got about 60k nook miles in an hour or two with this method. Requires TTing, but it's the fastest way IMO.

People get lots of them through tips from turnips, trading, selling villagers, etc. It's a common currency used in transactions nowadays. Personally I don't use them that much tbh.
