I haven't been on these forums in a few years after I stopped playing New Leaf. Now I'm hooked on New Horizons and am wondering how some people are earning insane amounts of bells so quickly?

I've been funding my island mostly on scorpions and rare butterflies. One good way I've heard is the tarantula island.

Depends what range of bells you mean.
But for some of us, insane amounts of fishing/bugs. Barred knifejaws, red snappers, oarfish, golden trout, koi, and so on net a large amount of bells. Tarantulas are worth about 6k bells each.
Selling foreign fruit, seashells, hot items of the day (if you have nook's cranny) can add up. Hitting your gold rock daily, knocking down presents (got 60k from 2 balloons - 30k in each).

There are exploits as well some people have probably used but those are against TOS to discuss. So if you're referring to some truly obscene number then that's probably why.

I've been selling "hot items", catching bugs and fish whenever I see them, going to island tours after 7PM for chance at a scorpion/tarantula island (found one so far).

I’ve been at home since new horizons came out and I easily make 200k-300k bells a day just by fishing/bug catching.

I started the game today so I don't have much, I don't know how people get iron nuggets quickly either so I don't have nook's cranny yet. How do you knock down presents, is the slingshot in the game?

Once I get better at earning nook miles I'll have to take a trip to an island.

I've been lucky enough to find (or unlucky for some people who hate spiders!) the tarantula filled island when using my Nook Miles Ticket. You can sell those bad boys for 8k a piece! I've gotten about 180k bells from a trip but you could get even more if you're willing to leave tools behind on the island and recraft them when you get home.

I know there are a few other mystery islands out there that have other types of bugs and fish that can fetch high prices. There's even an island where all the rocks are money rocks!

If you hit all the rocks on your island + rocks on tours (I took a lot of trips to the island my first few days hunting for villagers) iron nuggets add up quickly! And yep! The slingshot is a tool you can purchase/make in the game!

I'll have to test my luck once I get enough nook miles, I also have to craft better tools once I get more iron nuggets.

Hopefully the game becomes easier over time.

bug catching and fishing. i get paper kite/emperor/peacock butterflies really often and they’re 1,000 bells of more each. i’ve also sold a lot of oarfish, football fish, red snappers, etc and that gets me quite a bit too.

When Flick and the Beaver come to your island they buy fish and bugs for insane amounts of money, also I've seen turnip prices of 600+ per turnip and when you buy a turnip at the cost of 97 or less you make over 1mil without even having a full inv of turnips. Island farming is amazing because of tarantula farming (easy 200+K). There was a dupe method (which is why I assume there are some people here trying to buy crowns for multiple millions) but getting money is super easy if you put your mind to it and set aside an hour or two. Heck, with a friend you can make over 10mil with turnips easily if one of you gets lucky and ones on a Sunday.

It's my spring break? So I can essentially catch bugs and fish all day, using the Nook Miles tasks to earn Dodo Flight Tickets with which I fly to the islands, and get non-native fruits plus more fishing and bugs and stuff. I haven't time travelled, I have no clue what duping is or how you do it. Just constant tasking has paid off my house, the first expansion, and the first two extra rooms. Tomorrow I have an outside upgrade coming, and I can spend the day saving up for the NEXT house thing! :D

Time isn't as rare as it used to be with so many people on lockdown at home.

I don't understand why anyone would dupe in a game like AC, part of the charm is waiting for things to progress over time, in my opinion anyway!

I think by fishing and catching bugs a lot.
I am slow at earning bells here even though in new leaf that was a big part of my gameplay as i would go to the island almost everyday and catch bugs for hours, but in NH i find myself more into collecting nooky miles, that is pretty much all what i do and i am having fun with it so far.

native fruit sells for 100 bells, while non-native fruit sell for 500 bells. fruit stack in 10, and collecting an entire inventory of your native fruit and going to another island where they have a different native fruit than yours, you can rack up 200,000 bells if you have the 40 slot inventory

I prefer fishing to catching bugs and haven't found a tarantula island yet, so I've been farming coelacanth for dollaz.
