I've been buying digital games, so I only have 400 blocks left. Can I just swap cards out? Back and fourth to play games? Or do I have to transfer. If so how do I safely do so? I don't wanna lose anything.

Hello it is quite easy, I bought a 32 gb sd card, but first things first get a good sd card of a good speed. Dosen't have to be uber expensive just check forums.

What you then do is full format your SD card, and after that you take the sd out of your ds you copy all the stuff and you put it in a blank map. You save that map as a back up also, and from there you fill up the new SD card. So good luck, if you have more questions.

I looked it up for you, you do this with the NEW sd card, and then put in a copy of the OLD ds. But always make back up first..

1) Take your SDHC card out of your 3ds and insert it in laptop or computer
2) Copy everything onto your pc
3) Format your SD card
4) Insert your new SDHC card into your pc and copy all your files over
5) Insert it into your 3ds and hopefully it worked :D

I hope this is clear enough I did this the other week and it worked, you may also want to format your new SDHC card before using it as well, it all depends on how reliable the SD Card brand is.

Sorry, not trying to spam your thread but how do you format the sd card exactly? I'm really bad with computers.

So do you format the new sd card you bought or the old sd card? I bought a micro with an adapter btw. I'm going to move data when I buy the new 3ds.

If you want to transfer everything on your current 3ds to your new/next 3ds you will have to do a system transfer.

Ah, so for that, can I just switch out my sd card in my new 3ds with a 32 gb one and system transfer?

Yeah I'll have to check some of these links out because anything with formatting and whatever will scare me that I'm gonna lose it all. XD

So I just put the old card in the computer, copy and paste the
Files into a folder, put the new card in, format it, and them copy and paste the files into it?

You don't even need to format the card if it's 32GB or less, the console already does that for you when you put it in.
So just copy / paste the files in the new card
Put the new card In Your console and done

I know how you feel. I backup my sd card (64GB SDXC card) every two days just for that reason :P

Nintendo links you to a formatter and suggests you do that to every new SD card you use in the instructions on their official website.
I did that just to be safe.
