Hello! I had a question about how to properly line up my cafe with my town hall.
Basically, at the top of my map I have my town hall, train station, and retail lined up with a path. I would like to put my cafe next to my town hall so they can all be lined up, but I'm unsure of how to properly place it. I made a picture to show you what I mean, and I would really appreciate some assistance! I'm sorry if it's confusing.

Cafe diagram.jpg

The little red squares indicate where Isabelle would mark the cafes area. Is that correct, or does it need to be moved back one more? I would like the doors of the cafe to be lined up with the town hall. :)
(Also, they will actually be 2 - 3 spaces away from each other.)
If you need me to explain a different way or even over Skype or something, I could try to be more clear about what I mean. This town means a lot to me!

Thank you! xx

The best way to place an object is to plot out the actual actual placement of the object where you want it to be placed. Assuming that the placement will be acceptable to isabelle, create a border with a DIFFERENT pattern around that area. try placing the object several times, making sure its correct.

Also, if you want to be extra careful, save and continue before placing the object so that if the placement is wrong, you can simply switch off your game and try again! Good luck :D

Thank you for the reply! I actually have had it lined up just as I had in the diagram (except 3 spaces apart) and did place patterns too :) But the reason I didn't save it was because I wasn't 100% sure if it would be properly lined up or not and wanted another opinion just to be safe, since the cafe can't be demolished afterwards :(
I love my town and plot reset for hours and am trying my very best to make it lovely, so I would be absolutely devastated if I did something as silly as misplace my cafe. D:

IIRC the cafe is a bit oddly shaped, where the building itself only takes up 3x5, but the plants/sign in front make it 4x5, and 5x5 includes the space for the door (I can pop into my game and upload screenshots of my cafe if this is confusing haha). So you should actually line up the back of the cafe with the back of the town hall -- which might be tricky, but like Svive said you can save beforehand and quit and try again if you need to

Edit: Forgot the word "beforehand" -- do NOT save afterward then quit lol that's probably obvious but yeah

I completely feel your pain! But if the rope outline thats set up after you finish up with isabelle is aligned correctly, then it will line up. I plot reset for hours too and will place and replace bridges and other pwps many times before getting them correctly so good on you for taking the time because in the end it pays off!

i know this might not be helpful, but i would usually just do some trial & error with that, until it eventually looks good.

If it's no trouble, I would actually very much appreciate screenshots of your cafe! I'm just really nervous because I would kick myself forever if I screwed this up! I do have the cafe in my other town, but obviously that won't help me much since I'm not even sure about the dimensions exactly! :( Plus, it's not even lined up with anything.

Ok, I hope this is clear!

Just be aware for the sake of your path that the two spaces in front of the door need to be free (the way I have my path laid out is the closest I could get). The police station is the same way if you're planning to put that in line with them too.

I edited this because I said something about the door being two spaces in response because I can't read apparently :/ It's 4:14 AM and I apologize. I'm really not as dumb as I seem.
Thank you, I really appreciate the help!

Thank you very much! So then, that cute little dirt path pattern, is it shaped that way because the cafe door takes up two spaces?
Yup. Kinda sucks but oh well. Also, just to be sure -- did you try to place it without saving and confirm that the space Lloid marks off is actually 5x5, and not 4x5? The wiki I'm looking at says it's 5x5, but it just seems like it should be 4x5, considering the 5th row is just space (I placed my cafe a looong time ago, I don't think I was even aware of grid space back then lol, so I don't remember). Regardless, the most important thing would be to line up the backs, since that'll ensure the buildings themselves are lined up.

Edit: Ha, I took too long to respond, just saw your edit. Happy to help!! Good luck making your perfect town!

I like how curvy Reese's path is but it still looks great! Never thought to do it that way! I'll have to remember that for the future. :)

I meant to respond to this yesterday but forgot - thank you! I like it now too but I definitely didn't plan it that way, I placed the cafe early on before I'd finalized my path layout and it ended up being a few spaces too low, so I had to get creative with the dirt path haha

OP, how did it work out? Or if you haven't paid off the cafe yet, let us/me know once you do!

Hello! I actually haven't placed it yet, but I've practiced to be sure and it will go where I want while being lined up the way you suggested! :) I'm waiting until Rudy leaves JUST IN CASE. Even though I can place it where I want, I'd feel more comfortable being able to view it from all angles before saving, and Rudy is right in front and makes it impossible.

But, I also have two options! I can put it directly next to my cafe (3 - 5 spaces away), or I can put it a little further away than that, while still being lined up. I'll definitely let you know how it goes when the time comes! :)

That's great! I understand wanting to be absolutely 100% sure, as someone who also takes pride in a precisely planned-out town, and also tends to constantly second-guess myself, haha. Fingers crossed Rudy gets the heck outta town soon!
