How do I get my villagers to talk to eachother?

In wild world my villagers always talked to eachother, but now they never do. I thought the feature had been removed, but then I saw other people's villagers talking. Is there an easy way to get them to?

No, just play the game and you'll sometimes catch them chatting.

I catch them talking more when I've been playing longer than usual like when I'm laying down paths or rearranging flowers.
