How do I craft items when the Resident Services tent upgraded to a building?

Can I craft a Simple DIY workbench from my pocket? Am I SOL? What should I do?

If it's closed for renovation, you are stuck. Once it re-opens, it will still have a DIY bench. You can go to a friend's island to make a DIY bench at their resident services. Or you could set your clock forward to time travel to the new resident services being done.

I think you can use the workbench in your villager's houses, if they have one displayed
